 |
|
......not including drunken last dance types
Since the Mrs has put the brakes on the 'race ped' project I had to take it to the petrol station today for some motion lotion then on to the MOT station.
My ride involved a 3 mile long straight dual carriageway, busy town center and a short NSL road. I had forgotton just how shite scooters are.....I was there with the throttle bang against the stop and couldn't get more than 35 (indicated). Whenever a hill approached it was down to 25 mph and I even had builders in town giving me the salute I guess that every cager going past was having a wee old giggle.
Surely these things can't be road legal, I do actually have a little sympathy for 'ped boi's now' The worst thing is that I have got to ride it back later!
Awaiting the cool/shite story bro. ____________________ Current ride - Yamaha MT-07 |

I've been riding various bikes for 11 years and I was shi*ting myself being cut up by every tom, dick and HGV.
It was quite funny though beating the cagers off the roundabout as the low speed meant I could plan miles in advance and take the roundabout flat out
I think all learner bikes should be able to do 60. ____________________ Current ride - Yamaha MT-07 |

I don't have a problem with them.
Defensive driving is the key. No fucker cuts me up on a moped, pushbike or small capacity bike because I don't allow them to.
If you're getting cut up, you're doing it wrong. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Never went on a dual carriage way on my 'ped for that reason. And it was bad enough on a 125 trying to overtake a lorry, pull out and get hit by a headwind that the lorry had been protecting me from, got up to about the cab level and the bike had no more had to let off and go behind it again. ____________________ Bikes Past: Yamaha Aerox (sold) Yamaha R125 (written off)

Brings back fond (erm ) memories of owning a C70 years ago. Did 45 down a 1 in 3 hill, followed by a 90mph wind, if you kept your head down lol Was a nightmare anywhere but in heavy traffic. Going up hills into a wind was dreadful. Not even having a manual clutch to slip made matters worse.
The thing with Cub valves burning out is caused by insufficient lead in the fuel. In the days when you could still buy 4 star, using that would allow you to wring the neck of a Cub and keep your valves from burning out. I have a feeling using super unleaded might have a similar effect but I've not had a steppy in many years to try it out. ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

I can't imagine many things more dangerous than riding a 30mph scooter on UK roads.
You'd either be riding well out with Astra Man 2" from your rear wheel, or do the classic pedboi gutter-hug and get constantly cut up and pulled out on. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I remember my little suzuki AE50 "style"... it had none.
I couldn't be doing 30 everywhere, mine did 45 after decoaking the exhaust Might have had something to do with that large washer that fell out of the end and subsiquent tinkering with the carb to get it running right again
It was nice to keep up with traffic on the 40mph duel carrageways that were my usual route to work rather than getting bullied by pretty much everything else on wheels. |
