Thanks for that. It must be said that the later option of joining some other bikes that might let me have a go is sounding rather good. I suspect I might well get the big for this as I log the bikes, have always loved cross country riding (mountain bikes) and so the 2 together I think would be excellent, throw in some mud and all is well.
I have joined the region and so hope to have a chance some time soon ____________________ Keep the rubber side down |

Not in the area, so afraid I can't help - but I definitely think taking up a kind offer from friendly local dirty bikers is the way to go.
If you like XC mountain biking, you'll love enduro . |

A few of us ride mountain bikes around the Surrey Hills too.
Great way to get fit ... you should see me ... i am like an adonis, ask anyone they will tell you.
Anyway, we ride every weekend and once of twice during the week (night riding).
Some great trails and good fun.
This is a clip from a ride I did about 30 minutes ago:

Hi guys - Ok, I must admit that the night time bit might be a bit beyond me at the moment and the spot of white in the dark was a little limiting but I had a look at one of the day rides you guys did and it looks awesome. I am SO wanting to have a go and REALLY appreciative if you guys are able to help me have a go. Is there a specifically good way to stay in the loop about when you might be going out? Might be a good stlye of excercise even as the beer belly is definately kickiing in (who am I kidding, did years ago). What would I need to bring along? Wheres about do you meet up?
Never thought I would get an offer to try it and so really appreciative ____________________ Keep the rubber side down |

I did the Goldings Barn Yamaha day it was great! Really enjoyed it it was a good introduction to off-roading.
I'm looking at doing this this year too. (stage 2)
https://www.adventureridingacademy.com/COURSES(1511375).htm
Then I will consider getting an Offroader, I love it, the trouble is I'm not sure I can afford the upkeep of another bike. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
Skudd:- Perhaps she just thinks you are a window licker and is being nice just in case she becomes another Jill Dando.
WANTED:- Fujinon (Fuji) M42 (Screw on) lenses, let me know if you have anything. |

That last course is £450.
Add that to the £300 you paid for Golding Barn.
Not far off the price of an ok Off-Roader
Stop spending money of event days ... and go out and buy a bike and ride it . ____________________ There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffa tape.

Golding barn was £175, would have been cheaper if I realised you get a discount for having a Yamaha 20% IIRC, and anyway I didn't pay for it it was a present.
The cost of the offroader is not the problem it is the insurance. PLus having another bike to tax and maintain. Then on top of that is the cost of the gear a new lid, gloves, armour, boots, plus whatever else. Also the fact I don't know anythign about the 'scene' in my neck of the woods. and I don;t think we have any green-lanes at all. If I was to go with you lot it would be a 50 mile each way trip to get to box hill. Plus it is the storage We already have 6 bikes and the garage is very crowded.
See lots of reason why not, I want to make super sure I 100% want to do it and have a reasonable amount of experience before taking the plunge. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

But, Its an Arai you fool.
