Here I found a 65mm piston for my nsr where as its 55mm standard, I am curious if I were to buy this

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-NSR125-MALOSSI-BIG-BORE-65MM-PISTON-KIT-GASKETS-/300530618454?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item45f9055056

What other parts do I need? and I am asuming i need to bore the barrel out?

Could someone be so kind as to tell me the method and other parts I will need please?

For a basic fit it and ride off, all you'll have to do is send the barrel for a rebore, possibly a replate. Depends what the barrel has already, if it nikosil plated already, then its going to cost more. But if not, then id suggest it. Have a look at Stan Stephenson's website, or ring a 2stroke tuner up and ask. It'll cost you £100 minimum for the rebore I should imagine. Not Worth it in my opinion. But then again, its your bike.

As far as I can foresee for me it would just convert to ball ache, like the extra cost when you need to rebuild it more often. And thats a hell of an increase in piston size. I'd do some thorough research into others that run NSR's with that size piston, and any troubles they have had, or what the increase was like. Generally an untouched and loved 2 smoke will only need rings changing until mega miles . But i'd get on the phone and find out how much its all going to cost before you decide on anything. If its your main transport then leave well alone, and use as many genuine parts as you can afford.
As a project though, do it! Very Happy

EDIT: The NSR has too weak of a crank to do this reliably. However the piston alone is worth £80. Plus you have to account for the costs of setting up the bike and so on and so on. If you want power buy a bigger bike.

Hi

Very much doubt you could just bore the stock barrel out by 11mm from 54mm to 65mm. Likely that the head gasket mating surface would be too thin and possible the walls of the barrel would be too thin. If you did then you would likely affect the port timing as well (as the tops of the ports are angled).

All the best

Keith

That..

and are you on a CBT? im sure a big bore makes its over 125cc, not just the bhp limit but physical engine capacity.

thats can't be in anyway suitable as its for the standard 150cc NSRs as from calculating the bore of the pistion and stroke gives a 180cc!

No way is that suitable for the 125 engine.

Best bet would be to get the 150 european kit
