Do it.

I was planning to do a similar trip a couple of weekends ago, but lack of funds stopped me Sad

All you need to make sure you have are:
(1) enough money for gas and snacks (or at least a working cashpoint card)
(2) a change of clothes
(3) breakdown cover
(4) a mobile phone

And bobs your uncle. Off you go!

Sure it can be done. Just make sure you don't run out of 2 stroke and you don't let it overheat.

I think the A1 will be a bit boring on a 125 as theres nothing really to see and is full of lorry drivers, some of whom are absolute cocks so be careful on there. Go through nice little villages and country roads etc instead, will be much better ride

I drove from gatwick airport to up past coventry once on a rs125 on l-plates back when i was 17. Had all the A and B road directions taped to my tank, followed them for about 30mins, 30yards down here then turn right onto blah blah then 15yards down here 4th exit at blah blah rounabout... Then thought fuck this, ripped my l-plates off and nipped up the motorway.

You do realise you will have to come back again, though, so that's your mileage just doubled.

I wouldn't want to do all of that in one weekend on a 125.

I did do about 300 miles in a long weekend on my 125 while learning, and that was really cool.

Did 300 miles in a day on my 500 last week, and that was very tiring.

Best thing for it mate. If I lived at the Broch, I would try to get as far away as possible in the shortest possible time by any means necessary Wink Laughing

It should be doable, Count on about five hours down to edinburgh (used to take me just over four from Huntly on my Jawa350). Although that bit of the A92 could take a bit of time (I usually go along the M90 but then I have a full licence).

Last time I did the next bit it took me about two hours but that was ton-up on my GPZ. It is quicker once you are south of Edinburgh though.

Do it. You have all weekend to get there and back.

Yeah, you'll have a sore arse. But what the hell.

You don't get experience of life if you sit indoors and look at a map.

You'll end up with what I call The John Wayne Walk Very Happy

Are you going one way or are you planning on going home again on this trip? One way is do-able, i think round trip is a bit ambitious.

I will say, however, that I ammuch in favour of the long ride, rather than stints, for learners.

My first real journey was to a rideout with some of the BW lot. Berkshire to Kent, not that far, but did me wonders

My first real journey solo was a trip down to Dorset (120 miles approx) to visit a friend (RIP Cookie), and everything came together on that ride, and the 120ish home again the next day.

Good luck on the run, take a camera, take a phone, choose a job, choose life... sorry got carried away there.

Tip, if you have enough room under your seat, buy one of those wee ringbound map books and keep it there. (If you're the type, you can then mark on it where you have been).

I've done 250 Miles from london to north wales in one day on a 125. On the way up with a semi run-in engine and on the way down with a 70L rucksac full of uni bits.

Think it was four hours each way and two petrol / de-cramping stops. If its sunny make sure you've got some lotion on, i had some very strange tan lines!

I rode from Carlisle to Caernarfon (215 miles) on an eighteen year old CB125 twin a couple of years ago (fully laden with winter weather camping equipment), and that was in February. Took around five hours.

I did 350 miles on a CG125 on 15 quids worth of fuel. It can be done (A good half of that was on the M1 as well) just make sure the weather is good. Wink

The only prize you'll win for such a feat is the "Longest amount of time spent sitting on a 125" award. Razz
