They are doing Dave's Insanity Sauces at a good discount ATM. I bought Insanity for about £1.50 a bottle and a bottle of Ghost Pepper (Naga Jolokia) for about £3.00. It does not show on the ASDA website but the store in Small Heath Birmingham has it and I am caning the Ghost Sauce ATM as it is so moreish.

How hot are those sauce sachets you get in a bombay pot noodle in comparison? I tried one on it's own and thought it was bloody hot.

I've had stuff with a 4 million extract in it, actual sauce was more like 300k. So not as hot as the chillis in that one, but it depends on how much it's watered down.

Surely the bombay sauce is only about as hot as tabasco? Thats about 5k scoville i think

Mr. Green A great deal hotter Mr. Green I do not like large amounts of extract in a sauce as it spoils the taste. Dave does use extract but the dauce does not taste unnatural.

I got a bottle of ghost pepper about 2 months ago in tesco, it was at £1.50 a bottle or so, now its at about a fiver Shocked Only just opened it.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/mikejbry/IMAG0020.jpg

Bloody hot though, iv been putting it sparingly on my bacon sarnies for a nice burn, I've never eaten a naga whole or anything (would like to!) but the sauce seems to be solely made with them pretty much. Nice taste!

Eating one whole though scares me a little, the scotch bonnet was really fruity, but fuck me did it burn and make me dribble....a naga is what? 3 times as hot as a girly scotch bonnet? Laughing

Best place anyone to buy nagas?

Nice offer, but I already have a bottle. I'll probably be in the market for another one in about ten years.

I had it on cheese on toast and it was delightfully warm, I'm a noob when it comes to 'proper chillis' on food, and found that the sauce straight was a little too much.. Need to build up my tolerance.

Tomato Sauce then for you! Laughing Haha, probably tabasco, and moving up to a west indian pepper sauce maybe? Although I cant remember the last time I had some pepper sauce..

To be honest, I put some of the Dolmio stir in sauce and pasta in a bowl, put a few drops of the insanity sauce into the mix and stirred so all got a good coating. Added some baby spinach and was pretty nice, there was no burning, but I'd say it gave it a really nice taste and a hint of kick.. Obviously you can add as much/as little of the sauce you like to help build your tolerance to it..

Having a grilled cheese sandwich for my lunch today, made a sauce from Tomato Puree, quite a bit of dave's insanity sauce and a tiny bit of olive oil... It's spicy, gives a good burn but taste's awesome and a lot better than the heinz tomato sauce I would normally have.

I'm not at the point I can drop the insanity sauce onto a sandwich straight yet in the same quantity.

I made my own sauce over the weekend using this recipe:

Quote:

1 lb Fresh Tomatoes
4 - 8 Hot Chiles (Red Habanero's are best)
1 tsp basil
6 Garlic cloves
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tsp white sugar

Cut the tomato's into halves and remove stalk section, Cut the Chile's into strips. It's up to you whether or not you remove the seeds. Put all the ingredients into a stainless steel pan (not aluminium). Bring to the boil and simmer for 45 minutes with the lid on. Remove the lid and simmer for another 5-10 minutes to thicken the mixture. Pour the whole lot into a food processor and blend with a fine blade setting. Pour into pre warmed bottle and allow to cool.
Use this sauce as you would tomato ketchup, but with more zing.
To make it hotter just add more chile's

From here:https://www.chilefarm.co.uk/index.html

Doubled up the ingredients and used a whole lot less tomatoes and a whole lot more chillis. I used 9 packs of mixed hot chillis from Tesco that were reduced to 9p per packet - by god it's good!!!
