I've been busy over the last few months doing stuff, none of it to my CBR. A number of parts have been sitting around waiting to be fitted so I thought it time to start.

First bit was the hanger. I rarely, if ever take pillions on the CBR so I wanted it to be as close to solo as possible. It took a bit of time to find one that wasn't massively overpriced but this one from laser turned up. It was so cheap I brought two!

Pretty easy to fit, release rear cowl and just slide it back a bit to give access to the hanger bolts. Slightly awkward due to the undertray. No real point in photos of how I did it, very basic stuff really but I am happy with the final look.

Next bit is likely to be the main crash bungs. I've got to drill through the fairing to fit them. Could be interesting, I've never done it before. I would prefer to do it without removing the fairing but we will see.

Bit more done.
Very little worth mentioning about the front spindle sliders. 5 minutes to fit if that.

Even being careful its hard to get the center of the engine bolt exactly. Started with a 3mm drill, 10mm next, then 16mm and finally 25mm. I used a cone drill to make the hole, easy to control and it looks tidy.

Looks good to me. A significant improvement looks wise to the motrax ones. Having sat down and thought about it I may open up the hole in the fairing to allow for the bung to bend should the worst happen.

how are the front spindle sliders held in?

They come with a drilled out spindle bolt and the spindle is already hollow.

That is exactly what I was going to do originally, then I decided I'd turn some up myself. I eventually brought these for £17. If you look at the biketek sliders in the first picture I paid about £4 for them with postage. It'll be interesting mounting those to the swingarm.

dont use skateboard wheels they dont slide and instead grip into the road and flip the bike causing even more damage,as i buy crash damaged bikes i have seen the result many times

The hangers were a one off find on Ebay. I'd been searching for some time for a decent priced hanger, there was no way that I would pay £50 for a R&G. The seller listed two but didn't describe them very well. Finish isn't brilliant on them but they cost significately less than expected so I'm pretty happy. If you know someone with a welder then it would be easy enough to knock one up.

The swingarm spools are a bit of an unknown. I have two options. I could go through the spindle, the same as the front. My concern is that they will hit the exhaust. The second option is to weld a tapped tube on to the underside of each side of the swingarm. This does mean that it will all need to be stripped but it also means that I will be able to get the swingarm powdercoated, probably black. Dunno. I shall think about it.

Last time I had a look at mine, the rear axle spindle wasn't perfectly hollow the whole way through, there is a restriction of the internal diameter near the RHS. Might be that you could slide a piece of bar into the spindle with a thread tapped into each end and then use a long bolt to reach in through the narrow part on the RHS.

Personally I don't think it will make any noticeable difference on a road bike.

I went for 8mm allthread for starters, fitted straight through the spindle.

I think that it may be a better idea to drill the swingarm and fit rivnuts.

Might be right there mate.

Assuming the rear end of yours is the same as mine then the rear wheel has 119mm of travel, could be worth getting it on the centre stand to unload the rear wheel and having a play with a tape measure.

No biggie. Some time ago Chr15 gave me some carbon look foil. I wrapped some around the cannister for the rear suspension. I like it.

The heel plate is actually carbon. The pattern on the foil is pretty good.

Just order new Hel brake lines. Bloke here www.helmobile.com is doing full stainless for £58 plus postage if you use the code FORUM.
Clear indys and an exhaust protector on their way.

Where did you have the brake lines from? I couldn't find anything anywhere near the price in stainless. Goodridge were close but that was for zinc ends.

My brother (bacon on here) is a member of MCNninjas forum, there is a guy on there that works for/owns https://www.intobikes.co.uk/ and offers an MCN ninjas forum discount.

I got the carbolook (smoked black) hoses and st/st ends - 2F 1R setup. Is the £58 for all three lines?
