On sunday evening me and my gfs dad decided too open the transmission too take the variator restrictor out.

Well, after alot off hassle, we got in. Managed too find something too hold the teeth on the starter gear still, and undo the nut too find....

The variator washer had already been removed..

So, put it all back together.

But now whenever I use it there is quite a loud hum coming from inside the transmission.

Any ideas what ive done wrong?

Also, dont know it it was this way before but if I take off the breather cap on transmission its incredibly loud.

Are you sure the nut is on properly? Your not supposed to just hold the variator and undo it, you either use the PROPER TOOL, or use an impact wrench. Use anything else and it probably wont be tourqued up enough. Check you haven't broken any of the varitor fins or teeth as well.

Sounds like something is damaged or bent. You need to take it apart again as it probably won't last very long at all.

Thanks for replies.

I used a screwdriver too hold the teeth in place, but it didnt bend anything at all.

Im going too take it apart today and make sure its all together right.

Quick question, can I start the engine with the transmission cover off too check if the humming is gone??
