Gone up again, only £3 for me but still... with fuel as it is people are going to simply stop buying new cars.

That was sneaky, as I never heard that it was going up.

So you can now get 6 months tax for 401 - 600cc bikes.

Damn, cars made after 2010 with over 255 g/km are up to £1000 Shocked I suppose cars with those figures are like Ferraris and such though, right?

My bike is classed as 398cc so the tax has went up by £2 Crying or Very sad

It is cheaper for me to tax BOTH of my cars, than it is my bike! Confused

I do maybe 500-1000 miles a year on my bike, and 10,000+ in my car.

Great system they have there for taxing by emissions! Rolling Eyes

And it's cheaper for me to tax both my bikes than the car I barely use.

£205 for 12 months, yesterday.

Wouldn't mind if any of it went on upkeep of the roads.

To be fair they seem to be on top of things where I live, they're repairing a load of the local roads and are still messing about the A1's surface... doesn't mean I'm happy about paying more though, but it's nice to see my money being put to use at my door step.

You would think wouldn't you. BMW M3 now Cost a grand to tax, for a year. Effectively destroying any resale value on them.

Might be alot cheaper to buy a EU reg one, insure it with a UK inurance company and drive it over here for 6 months at a time between short hoildays in france.

Some one l know has three bikes of the same make with a common numberplate on all three sharing the tax but seprate MOT,s and Insurance, has,nt been caught yet Laughing

Cool. Hopefully, they'll get better by me soon, too.

Is that the bit by Hatfield Galleria they've been doing for ages?

That's only for the first year, then it goes down to £465 if I'm reading it correctly

*Edit*

First year rates - Cars registered on or after 1 April 2010 (based on fuel type and CO2 emissions)

The rates in the table below are only payable for a vehicle's first tax disc taken out at first registration. All other tax discs will be charged according to the standard rate tables shown above.

So dealers will ramp the price of the car up to compensate.

I'm glad I have a 20 year old car under 1.6L then Shocked

Mind you, it is gay that there is not an <1L option in there, I'd pay less for my Marbella!

It must polute lots with CO2 esspecially as it is right up there on the emitions test of unburned fuel, but I don't care! Just my 45mpg Cool

there is only one solution.

Everybody in the country should buy a low emission car with free or low tax and then we'll all stop wearing out the roads

Fucking government is ridiculous in this country. I'd seriously love to inflict pain on the cunts.

We're all for the motorist, big thing about a fucking PENNY off a litre of already HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGELY overpriced fuel tax....

But we're adding pounds to your CAR/BIKE tax mind.... but we'll not publicise that as openly.

cunts.

Don't forget that most fuel stations didn't even bother to lower the prices straight away Rolling Eyes Like 1p matters anyway, it'll be up by 2 by next week.

You laugh now.. but when it comes to paying for your tax and you can't find a quid coin... you're gonna have to take a £20... and we all know what happens once you've broken into a note. Wink

The rate only goes up on the 1st of April, so if you need to tax your bike tomorrow, you can save a few £££ by doing it today.
