Hey guys and gals,
Im a Learner and have gone through some of the classic 125 4 strokes like beer. My first 125 was a 1982 CG, she was great but at the beggining of last year i came off on the ice and she just wasnt the same since, points kept going, the choke was constantly mucking me about, and when i removed it completely she took 10 kicks to start etc. SO onto ebay she went.
My second was a 1985 CM. she died after 4 months due to the bearings/piston and needed an engine rebuild which i couldnt afford at the time, i dearly loved my cm.
So now i need a new 125, unfortunatly my cbt expired 3 months ago but i still have 2 years no claims.
So i was trawling through the cheap places to find old 125's, i know my track records not great but still,
and on Gumtree i found a 1987 MZ, i think its an ETZ. At 350 quid, mot and tax (11 months)
Is that a good deal or not, heres the add
"1987 MZ MOTORBIKE ,
new bat , plug , innertube and other bits
11 months mot and tax
just bought a van and want a faster summer bike
will part ex for royal enfield if anyone has.
spare parts also as show in pics"
for some reason i cant upload pics?! the exhaust looks clean, and the entire bike looks pretty clean!. ____________________ 2004 Rieju Rs2 Matrix 50cc, 1982 Honda CG125, 1986 Honda Cm125, 1982 Honda Cb125..... I kill a lot of 125's |

Here is the link to the add so people can see the pics for you. I personally know nothing of them but it looks ok for £350. ____________________ I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see.

65 ish is fine for me, the Cm only did 60.
i wasnt thinking it would be a little 2 stroke 125 speed demon (rs125 etc.) i was more interested if it would be test acceptable, somone told me on the new test specs the bike HAS to do over 60 (dunno if thats true, but im sure you used to have to do somthing like 61, stupid considering L's arnt allowed on motorways . And the ways you guys were talking about it i expected a top speed of 45 or something.
Plus one of my mates has a cracking 86 CG that can hit 80 ( ive been in a car behind him, and we were doing 75 and he was pulling away from us, on a straight too) and if i went out with him, i didnt want to end up 20 miles behind him lol
Thanks guys, i might have to have words with the bank of mum for a short term loan while i sell my old 50cc thats been sitting in my garden for 2 years. ____________________ 2004 Rieju Rs2 Matrix 50cc, 1982 Honda CG125, 1986 Honda Cm125, 1982 Honda Cb125..... I kill a lot of 125's |

Hi there,
I ride an ETZ 125 and I lvoe it to bits just because it was my first proper bike (and I cant afford to replace it) but its been an absolute heap. Everything has gone wrong and it has let me down more than it has taken me anywhere without any trouble.
It is slow. Struggles to hold 50 despite a new carb, new down pipe, exhaust clean, new air filter, new ignition system etc. and its pretty painful to sit at 50 on the dual carriageway and then hit a hill and decelerate to around 40.
I have spent a lot of money on it, parts are readily available from websites in germany such as 'MeinZweirad' fairly cheap but from my experience they are pretty shite. I bought an ETZ 125 carb and manifold from there, and the carb didnt fit onto the manifold not impressed.
Ive been looking at what I could have had for similar money to what I have invested so far and really think that I could have made a far better decision than the MZ, but then again mine could have just been a dog and you could be lucky, but I thought Id share my experiences.
good luck
Dan |

Mmm sounds like you can ge brilliant ones, or quite bad ones.
Well the guy responded to my interest.
"Hello there , no problem
87- thousand is on the clock i believe ,
it is an old 125 , but its quite fast for age/design. its a 2 stroke.
i have put and done a few bits on it , its road legal now , but the fuel mixture needs playing about with i had it perfect the other week and it was idling great , but i think the choke cable is frayed a bit may possibly need one , but you can still drive without."
87K sounds a lot for a 125, i know they last for ever but still. And the choke cable shouldnt me much of a problem.
Well i will continue to persuade mum, its worth going to have a look at aanyway ____________________ 2004 Rieju Rs2 Matrix 50cc, 1982 Honda CG125, 1986 Honda Cm125, 1982 Honda Cb125..... I kill a lot of 125's |

87k miles is shit loads for any 2t 125.
Saying that, the ETZ 125s are great bikes, I had one as my first bike and passed my test on it. Very reliable, and parts are pretty easy to get. Amreet's experience is unusual.
For that sort of mileage, and age I'd want it for pretty much nothing.
My ETZ 125 was a 1994 bike, with about 20k miles on it, and we paid £200 with MOT and tax. And that was probably 6 years ago. They're fairly rife on eBay, so you can get a better example than that for that sort of money.
There does only appear to be one on eBay at the minute, but 47k miles. 1991 model, selling for £100 atm.

This is my old one, loved it.
