Hey all, anyone into lighting mods?
I've seen a few gsxr's on the net with those halo/angel eyes in the headlamps, but I don't really see the point, they cant be that much brighter than the sidelight so I presume they are just for tart factor. Also apparently you have to put the headlamp unit in the oven to melt the glue seal, so no thanks lol.
I know G has led strips on his bar muffs, which look like they add a lot of visibility, but it's hard to find places on a sportsbike to mount any kind of lights to have a beneficial effect.
So if you have any lighting mods, either lighting for driving, or lighting for your own visibility, post pics.
Here's what I have done, just a few leds but I think it really makes the bike a lot more noticeable. Two white leds in the corner of the air duct opening, wired into the sidelight circuit, and 4 red leds in the bottom of the numberplate wired into the rear running light.

I left the ducts in place to hide the lights when they were not on.
Indeed my screen was held on by Duck tape. I put my head through it whilst crossing a ford and falling off with no lid on.

I have a number of spare red 12v leds in my toolbox, and I'm very tempted to try this one... ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

I originally wanted to put some sort of red light under the undertray, but you wouldn't see it due to the number plate, and since there was no other place really, I stuck them there. They angle up slightly, it would be better if they were horizontal, but they seem to do the job rightly. ____________________ My Bikes - - - Royal Enfield 500 with sidecar, VFR800, CBR600FX,

I thought the whole reason for trolling someone was in order to wind them up?
Correct me if i'm wrong but that doesn't seem to be happening. But here is a picture of the offending SV.

Redwing Bugger off, and jump off the band wagon.
I will want to wire in more lights on my bike whn its fixed ( )
How did you choose your lights just a bog standars hardware shop?
now id assume theres two relays for the lights one for running one for high beam?
how can you figure out the max "wattage" the relays can take? ____________________ Current: Ducati Multistrada 1200s |

I run mine through my optimate charger, to the relay you can see in the picture, then used a piggy back wire off the low beam wiring to open the relay, and just a normal switch on the dash.
Like I said I had 2 sets, 1 was for long range, and the other was short range more like fog lights. ____________________ amnesia - Never in the history of usernames has one been more accurate. Warped indeed. You sir are a fecking oddball. |

What a fucking waste of battery and effort just to make your bike look like it's owned by some chav who has LED washer jets on his car. Is what i was going to say before seeing this:
Which actually looks alright and it no doubt useful for night riding and safer during the day. During the day car drivers see one headlight and assume it's miles away or a car parked up. Give them some width and structure to the lights and i think they will spot it and judge it's speed much better. |
