 Posted: 16:34 - 07 Apr 2011 Post subject: NSR 125 Oil Injection (Pictured) |
 |
|
My NSR 125 tends to smoke a lot when it goes into around 6-7k revs. Even if I've been riding it around a fair bit that day. It may do so in lower revs when going up a hill too.
So I looked around and tried to find out if there was something causing this. I understand it could be a head gasket? But I'm not sure. Basically when I'm up to 40/50mph in a high enough gear, it doesn't plume white smoke, but in the lower gears it does. For example, accelerating from standing to 40mph quickly with gear changes up to 4th/5th will shoot out white smoke. Is this normal?
I read that it could be the oil injector putting in too much oil? There is a marker it should line up, but I couldn't find it, though I may be just dense here. So, I took some pictures, and if you could point me towards the marker's alignment, I'd be eternally grateful, if not just to rule out the injection as the problem.

This one was to show that the marker on the round brass coloured bit, lines up with the protruding metal bit.
This is the first time I've been in this bit of the bike, so I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I have the manual printed out, but to be honest that didn't do much good in explaining to me what I was looking for. The last picture is it at full throttle.
I apologise for the size of the pictures, and the clarity. Auto-focus wouldn't work and I had to manually do this, which was a real pain.
Anyway, any light you can shed on this would be great. Does it look like it's set right? ____________________ Ted : "Maybe he's agoraphobic."

Grab hold of the workshop manual and go through the oil pump calibration procedure. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. Previous: Firestorm (written off) - XJ600 Divvy - NSR125 - DT125 and a load of offroaders. |
