So can anybody tell me if any of the mixable metals/fillers are petrol resistant, and would they be suitable for plugging a tiny hole on an ally carb body?.
Yes I`m going to be careful and the hole is not near any of the jets

The yanks use JB weld for carb bodies, I have used plastic padding leak fix on an oil sump and it worked (is still working 3 years on) well. Halfords sell a steel epoxy putty which i believe says it is suitable for petrol tanks.

You might have more luck getting it welded up though.

I've had good results with 'chemical metal' before. Obviously take the part off, and clean it and allow the filler to 'go off' before you expose it to petrol etc.

Give it the best chance to work etc.

JB weld is teh seks if you can get hold of it.

Otherwise, the sediment bowl on the fuel tap on my CB125 consisted of about 70% araldite chemical metal and 30% the original alloy for the two years I had it.

Now, next question. How the hell did you manage to make a hole in your carburettor?

No I did`nt make a hole in the carb, I found a hole in the carb body.
It was very tiny and in the bottom of the float bowl ?

Anyway I bought a tube of "plastic Padding" chemical metal, and after cleaning and drying, it was applied.
well so far so good Thumbs Up
