A test ride is a good idea as then you do really start to get a feel for the bike, and any mechanical problems could well become apparent. Have a look over the paperwork for it and check it all adds up (old MOT's, service history) so make sure the milage increases with time. If it has any aftermarket parts it should have the originals with it, and if not then that's a haggling point.
Haggling. Don't let on how much you like it even if you love it. Try to find negative points about it which you can use to haggle, like tyres nearing worn out, chain and sprocket worn, marks on the bodywork, nearing needing a service, MOT nearing needing doing, road tax, brake pads, basically all bits which make a bike not a good bike. They may well offer to do an MOT on it, or a service basically fix the problem instead of reducing the price and this is good enough generally. Would expect they're asking 10% more than they want to get so offer about 15% less and prepare for some time haggling with them, and for them to offer to meet half way or where ever they do offer to meet. It might also be worth having a friend go with you who also knows about bikes so they can look at it as well and see if they spot any problems you miss, and to stop you from buying it if it's a lemon.
Hope this is of help. |

Forgot to mention, for more help with ZX6R have a look over at MCN Ninjas, they also have a good forum which is helpful with the Ninja bikes. |

When you're haggling, the fact that you don't have a trade in will reduce the price by about £300-£400
