Hi
This was talked about a few years ago. Personally I would prefer it.
Some argue that it would increase accidents, but think mechanical failures are a very small cause of accidents so can't say that bothers me that much.
Might well be more cars / bikes running round with blown bulbs and the like, but there are loads of those with the current system so if regarded as a major problem then something else needs to be done to cope with it (police stopping people for it like they used to maybe).
None of their options appeals that much though as I would want a straight 2 year MOT. Possibly at 2 years from new. Having the time between them vary by year just seems a recipe for confusing loads of vehicle owners.
All the best

Hi
My feeling is that if it is important to check it then leaving it for 10k is a lousy idea but if we put up with that then 20k isn't really any more of a lousy idea.
If mechanical issues really are a problem then find a way to deal with it sooner (such as the police pulling people up for it again). Loads of things are easy spot without the need for a £50 inspection.
All the best

I like how the Gubmint pretends that this is their idea. 2 years is already standard across much of Yerp, we're just tailing on.
Any sane system would be based on mileage, not age, of course. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

What about 2 years or 10K miles which ever is sooner?
Unfortunately I'd be getting about 4 a year! ____________________ The light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train! |

personally I don't see the point in changing the system from every year to every 2 years.
Last time I got a MOT done it was at Dyrons in Leeds and they charged me £23
what ever happened to those little blue MOT stickers they were giving out a couple of years ago - now they're not doing it? ____________________ www.BikeSwapShop.co.uk |

They're on the pass certificate. The whole sheet is stickied paper and you can feel away the reminder at the bottom. It is a rectangle. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11
