I started doing a pad change on my cbr600fv a few weeks ago...
I've been doing the head gasket at the same time, i just stripped the callipers while i was waiting for the new head gasket to arrive. When i took the pads out the pad springs flew out.
I've got the bike ready to start (once i've got the coils connected right & got a charged battery) I just need to put the new pads in and bleed up the callipers.
The problem is I can't work out how the new pad springs go in. I've tried a few different ways but they scrape on the back of the disc.
I've looked in my haynes manual but it isn't very clear how they go in.
Anybody know how they go?

In othernews.... Got it running for the first time since the hg change. Only problem is it's only revving to 1k with choke on (normally goes to 4) it dies when i rev it. And it randomly backfires, any ideas on what it could be?
Chris fears we may not of timed it right or possibly it slipped a tooth at some point.
Could it be possible that it's only running on 2 cylinders? i'm not 100% sure i've connected the coils right Confused

If you have haynes, just work through each possible item with the most likely first.

Chris doesn't have the best record with setting timing *cough* gs *cough*

Aye i'll be up bright and early tomorrow morning, fault finding. Just wondered if any of them in the know might have an idea of the problem.

I've took the rocker cover off and it looks like it's correctly timed. Still running like a bag of poo Sad and it was rattling before I took the rocker cover off. Think the valves need doing although that's doesn't explain why it's running rough, any ideas?

tight valve (as in negative clearance) can cause misfires.

How have you got your leads, one coil goes to the middle two the other goes to the outer two.

Left hand coil feeding 2/3 and right hand coil feeding 1/4 not sure if i've had the two wires going into the coils connected right, but the downpipes are all getting hot so i presume it's firing right.
I am wondering if the inlet valves on 3/4 are tight as i noticed it was blowing fuel out the 3/4 carbs.

Have you tried new spark plugs?

Have your carbs been sitting with stale fuel in them? Blocked jets?

Plugs haven't even seen a mile on the road, i serviced the bike before i did the head gasket. Carbs have been cleaned they're spotless.

Just a thought. Have you checked the fuel lines and made sure they are routed right. One little pinch from the tank to carbs and it messed my fj up similar to yours. I'm not teaching you to suck eggs but sometimes the simplist little error can lead to bigger problems. Thumbs Up

I've connected them up the same way as they came off, couldn't see any pinches in the pipe. And that wouldn't explain when fuel was blowing back out of 3/4 carbs.

I've got the rocker cover off rob, and unless the marks aren't in the right position on the cam gears then it's timed up right.

Have you tried dropping the fuel out of the bowls and letting them fill up again? Just in case a minute piece of debris has got in or the bowls haven't levelled off properly.
