My Hornet has the 16" fireblade wheel but the speedo was always driven off the front sprocket, is it the same with the blade?

Do you now have a bicycle speedo driven from the front wheel?

My Fireblade has 16` front wheel and is driven from the front wheel.
What is the actual problem, are you doing 30 and its reading 80 or ssomething, for example? Also, where is the speedo being driven from at the moment?

As he said, the previous owner has fitted a small digital speedo by the sounds of it.

Speedo settings have nothing to do with wheel size. They go by the tyre circumference.

Ben

Would need a massive high profile tyre on a 16" wheel to make the same reading as a 17" wheel. Laughing

Hardly.
A 120/60-17 wouldnt have a much greater rolling radius, than a 120/70-16.

72mm profile on the 17,
84mm profile on the 16,

Overall tyre diameter wise;
The 17 will have a 575mm diameter.
The 16 will have a 574mm diameter.

*Hope's to fuck my calculations are right* Laughing

16" blade fronts generally had 130 section tyres,so the rolling diameter can't be much different.

431mm - 17"

406mm - 16"

72mm - 120/60

84mm - 120/70

Total Diameter 16" = 574
Total Diameter 17" = 575

I make you right

Forgot about that!

Even at 130/60-16, It'll still be 562mm total diameter.
Which is next to nothing.

Mechanical speedometers driven from the front wheel are available with different ratios. It sounds like the replacement mini speedo that the previous owner fitted is not the correct ratio.

How to calculate the correct speedo ratio for your bike here:-
