Around Chamonix and nearby parts of Switzerland is not too far and plenty to do apart from ride bike - like go up the mountains on cable cars and little trains.
Try to suss the weather as it can be persistently rainy round there for days and really mess things up, when away from the high peaks is dry.
If it's rainy to the NW of the Alps it can be very different if you move south a day's ride.
If camping you have the required flexibility |

If on a budget like me - find yourself a reasonable destination (depending on your riding abilities time/distance-wise), e.g. 200 miles a day, and when it comes to 3pm put in the sat nav POI - Camping. Mine varied from 9 to 19 euros, bit cold (camping in Denmark is a serious business!), but never disappointed.
If first timer I would recommend southern France/eastern Spain. And European Breakdown cover lol ____________________ Current: 2007 VFR800; Ex: 2001 YZF600R Thundercat

Sooner or later opinions fade and the name on the tank matters not. I think that happens somewhere between 3rd and 4th gear. Enjoy the ride... everything else takes care of itself. |

It's a horrid ride from the north of france to dijon and takes some time too.
There is an F1 hotel in dijon which is cheap, but it's disgusting. Rooms stink of fags and the facilities are all plastic and leave a lot to be desired. Camping is better.
Once you get passed Dijon to Grenoble there is Route Napolean all the way to cannes ____________________ Motorcycle headlight bulbs and HIDs
