Firstly... i can't spell to save my life but i will try and will also use spell check

second... I don't know the technical names for some parts so you will have to put by with me saying (that thing next to the other shiny thingy)

Well my dads had a old gs1000 sitting in the shed for about 3 years now. Today i dragged it out and started to tidy it up. I started by stripping the front calipers and removing the pistons, cleaned them, greased then up are popped them back in (all seals seemed fine). Front brake is now free and working perfect.

Next was the back caliper i removed this and split it in half to find the seals blow to s**t. So i took the pistons out and cleaned and replaced them. (new seals will be ordered monday)

Next was to figure out why the choke was not releasing, After ages of pulling and prodding i figured that the outer cable of the choke cable had split and was digging into the inner cable jamming it there, So i removed the inner cable and fitted it without the outer (for now) and will order a new choke set up when i can.

Then i tried to find out why the throttle was not opening and i could not open it at the carbs by hand, After disconnecting the throttle cables to see if i could then move it down by the carbs I realized that the throttle was only pulling on one cable, meaning the other cable was snapped inside the housing. So i removed the snapped cable and re-fitted the working one and took off one return spring so prevent the one lone cable being over strained.

Then the last thing to do was remove the arrow f1 exhaust and drain the oil, with that done i gave it a good clean and planned what to do next.

This may be abit pointless without pics but my laptop will NOT upload them at the moment Sad

fit the second return spring back on.

it wont over strain the cable, and if that lone spring snaps youve got no way of shutting the throttle.

Yes fit the return spring. The return cable you removed has no effect on the load that the spring puts on the opening cable.

P.S. The GS1000 went out of production well before 1987, far as I know the last ones were '80-'81.
