Some of the cheapo ones actually have the K rating but it will never be the same. Just have to try and get as close as you can!
The high beam is never on though is it? ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636

I think you're better off finding the chavviest light out there with claims of 8000K-12000K since put frankly, I've had philips blue visions, osram silverstars, philips Xtreme vision and Osram X-racers all on my bikes and back to back, the bluest of those realistically is about 4000K. I've got 4300K bulbs fitted onto my HID ballast and the Xracers are only a smidge yellower. It's very noticable at night whihc one is incandescent and which one is a discharge light.
Blue visions will still be TOO yellow by comparison.
Here's an appropriate comparison on my blade

LHS - Osram Silverstar
Middle (dipped) H7R 4300K HID
RHS - Osram X racer (their claimed 4300K bulb) ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Those standard bulbs do look very yellow next to the 4300k HID. I have some a phillips xtreme power bulb in my bike, and would say it is a very pure white, just like your HIDs, whereas the old bulb looked as yellow as thos bulbs in your pic. ____________________

It's all relative. If your bike only has one bulb, like your 600 FY, then it would make it seem that they're the same colour, however, putting them side by side, then yes, you can see how far off they are!
Sorry, I stand corrected with my bulbs. It's not the X-racer, but the night racer. And YES, when I put the night racer as my dipped beam, it looked very silvery and certainly much whiter that the silverstars I was using for high beam.
My picture tells the true story of what it's like side by side. If you can see a visible difference between 4300K HIDS and supposedly 4000K night racers (the ones supplied in those nifty helmet boxes), then the gulf will be ever mor evident at 6000K.
Just for comparison,
this photo below was of my old 6000K versus osram silverstars!

And, in isolation, on its own, the Osram Night racers DO look white

The one from the picture directly above was from my 1st HID set - those were 6000K hence the hint of blue.
My recent ones (first pic) were the 4300 H7R's which I ordered and it DID state 4300K on the actual labelling on the loom.
Both were bought from HIDS-Direct, although my first one was a cock-up. I specified 4300K and they sent me 6000K instead. I weren't complaining however. My ZX6R's were also 6000K and the looked like

I are confoos.
My HID ballast says 12000v on it? I was told that a huge current is used to ignite the gas, then it settles at a low power consumption.
Anyone care to enlighten? I thought i had HIDs down, but apparently not |

Hi
Err, electrics is a very big weak point.
Best I can think of is to explain it as a physical equivalent. Voltage is like the height between 2 points (say water tanks). If they are (say) 12 feet apart you can't make them more than 12 feet apart. It is the potential difference between their start and end points. Amps would be the amount of water in a specific time that is being sucked from one point to the other. Suck more and you might over come the ability of the pipes to carry it.
That is a very crude analogy (and hopefully someone can come up with a better one without delving into electrical concepts).
The important bit for flattening your battery is the power consumed (watts), with volts * amps = watts. Most HID lights draw a fairly small amount of power when they are working, although likely more at the point they are firing up. If they are internally using 12000 volts then that isn't really that important externally (they will still be taking a nominal 12V, just converting that up to their operating voltage internally). Even if they draw 100 watts for a brief moment at 12V then that is still only around 8 amps. 4 headlights switched on at once and that might be a bit over 30 amps which likely will pop the fuse, but it will only draw that briefly. From memory they typically draw about 30 watts each when running, so about 10 amps at 12v for 4 headlights.
Note that aftermarket HID lights are not meant to be road legal (under UK rules only legal for original fitment, and then they need both a system to automatically keep the lights level and a system to clean them) and they have announced the MOT is being amended this year to make having them fitted a failure.
All the best
