Hi

Unfortunately the server was too busy to search for previous posts covering this topic, which I presume there are many of.

I only have one key for my RRY blade and I don't particularly feel comfortable only having one. So I can get the spare Honda Key for about £10-17 posted. Does anyone have an idea on how much it costs to get the key programmed to the bikes ecu? I live in central London if it helps. Smile

Presumeably Honda won't cut the key either so I'd have to get a keysmith to do that.

Good timing on this question...

I've got a key blank on it's way to me from David Silvers. There's a locksmiths literally around the corner from me, so going to get them to cut it for me.

Then will likely give george whites in swindon a ring about getting it programmed into the ECU.

Will let you know what i find out Thumbs Up

PS. Will be a few weeks yet beore i'll be able to see them about gtting it programmed, but will let you know none th less.

Right, huge ressurection on this thread, but fuck it, why start a new one.

I've still got this spare key on my shelf, had it cut ages ago, but when I asked at a dealer about having it coded to the bike, he said he wanted the bike for a full day and £50! Fuck off I thought.

Well, just flicking through my haynes, and it tells you in detail how to do it yourself, and even gives the part # for the special honda tool. Had a quick look on david silvers, and I can get the tool for about £20!

Part # is 07XMZMBW0101 if anyone is interested to know. Just an fyi, the part my haynes lists is 07XMZMBW0100 but the part ending 1 supercedes it.

So before I order this thing and give it a go, would anyone else with a Honda be interested in having a key (or two) coded?

Would help me recoup the cost if a couple of people would want a key doing for the price of a few quid, and would obviously be useful to anyone else needing a key that doesn't want to pay stealership prices. I'm in Leicester, alhough am frequenly in Swindon too. Thumbs Up

Hiya.

I got my key cut by a local shop and got Sutton Honda in Tamworth to program it for me. They charged £20 and it took them about half an hour.

Don't forget that with David Silver you need to add VAT and delivery costs so it will be over £30. Based on it being £20 to get it done by the dealer it comes down to whether you think you'll need it again, plus does it fit all Honda's with HISS?

TBH, I think I'd have bought it for £30 but I thought it was nearer £70 so never bothered. Either way, get the key programmed because it's a damn site cheaper than a new ECU if you lose the other key!

Well I've got the "fancy" tool. It's just a length of wire with a plug in connector in one end to connect to the bikes wiring, and the other end has two crocodile clips to attach to the battery.

Need to get the tank up to access the part of the wiring i need, so am going to change the plugs at the same time. Will let you know how it goes Smile

Done it! Was pretty easy too. Took a few attempts and a bit of puzzling. The HISS light didn't want to go blinky when it was meant to according to my book, but a bit of trial and error and eventually it did it's thing properly Smile

You mean three years ago when it was originally posted? Or the two years ago when it was originally bumped? Laughing

Sorry for the bump but I didnt see any point starting a new thread.

I need to get a copy key, ill be buggered if i loose my only one.

Is it just a case of getting on of these:

https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CBR600FY-2000/part_59484/

Getting it cut at a locksmiths, then getting it programmed at a dealer/with that tool?

How much does a dealer charge?

Cheers!
