I've had it in my head to buy a cheap traillie to fiddle with in the winter (attempt to learn some mechanicking) and, well, just cos I want one okay!

Problem is, I'm 5 foot 6 so I need one that's not too massive - I had a go on G's DR and I needed a kerb to get on and off. Not that I could kickstart it anyway. Laughing

I'm not really fussed about engine size, a 125 would be fine, so what I need from you lovely people is some suggestions of models to look for on ebay, adtrader and so on over the next few months. If it's simple and short, I'll consider it.

Gracias. Thumbs Up

Yamaha 225 Serow, i believe, from when ive seen them and read about them, they are said to be very low

supposed to be pretty good cop also, and they cost nothing these days

good site all about trail bikes https://website.lineone.net/~dualsport.uk/greybikeguide.htm

and they say
"The XT225 SEROW (4S, AC)
Probably my idea of the archetypal trailbike. Simple, straightforward chassis and engine that's meagre on petrol; light and nimble with low, comfortable seat height - perfect if you're put off trail bikes by their height; gutsy enough to tackle the most horrendous of green lanes yet is comfortable as a town bike and can cruise at 70mph. Convenient rack with grab rails should you get stuck and most models now with electric start. No wonder they're so popular.
"

hope this helps Very Happy

Hi. old/new?

This is cheap, and old, but small..

Your best bet is a yamaha XT225 Serrow

https://website.lineone.net/~dualsport.uk/serowpicos.htm

This sort of thing..

Hi

If you can find one then the old Honda XL100 is tiny, and should be good to learn spannering on.

All the best

That price is about right to be honest, considering they are Morad rims (nowhere near as good as Excel) and it doesn't have discs either.. so all in all that price is about right I think..

You'll probably pick up some talon/excels later for a decent price, theres a few bargains knocking about.. I missed this set last week for about £500 I think he sold them for, he must have been fkn mad!

Shame tho, they are v nice..

What it lacks in gold hubs it makes up for in wavy discs! Thumbs Up Laughing

Anyway, gold hubs means you gotta buy matching gold WRP fat bars and braking caliper with gold bracket, mmmmmmm....

Cool. Thumbs Up

It's not something I'm buying right away, more likely an October/November kind of thing. But I was bored and wanted to start a topic while I was window shopping on ebay. Smile

Yamaha Tw125s are one of the lowest to the ground legal road trailies around. The quite a bit of fun too, and being that they are basically a CG125 4 stroke engine slammed into a funky frame with a massive back tyre, they're a breeze to tinker with. I've got a silver 2001 model. I'd recommend getting one before the 2002 model. The others just look a bit pants - and they have lame semi tyres, rather than giant knobblies Razz

The TW125 is a good little bike. I had one for about 18 months, and I am only 5'5" myself with a 30 inside leg. It was fine for me.

The amount of Lads that come up and go "Cor, Mrs, NICE back tyre!" is remarkable, LOL.

I did have a (Honda) XL125 for about a year or so, and it was great, it was a kickstart, and even then I could manage to kick it over and hold it up no problem.

Lol! Funny because it's so true. Particularly if you're reasonably young like me (18) and the chavvies feel confident enough to pipe up.
