Iv just bought my bike (Yamaha DT125RE) and when I bought it, I saw it running. It then fell over in transit and wouldn't start, so I left it alone for 48 hours and had another try. By this time the battery was too flat to start it! GGRRR!!

I then tried to charge the battery and discovered it needed a new one. I then purchased another battery, charged and fitted it. Cleaned the crap out of the air filter, re-oiled and put back. Put a new iridium spark plug in. Changed the oil and generally inspected the bike.

Still it would not start!! So I bumped it and it fired up on the third attempt. I ran it for 10 mins and turned the idle speed up, so it was ticking over fine. Then hit the kill switch and tried the electric start once again and it STILL won't start!! It will start if I bump it though Thinking

I took the new spark plug out and it was VERY black, so obviously running rich and when it was first started it was slightly spluttery.

Can someone please advise me, thanks in advance Thumbs Up

What happens when you try using the starter button? Does it turn the engine over or does it make a clicking noise?

It turns the engine over. When the battery was fully charged it had good turning over power, but not as much as bump starting.

it might be the battery not holding amps even though it can show 12volts and appear charged. I had this on an old bike of mine and a new battery sorted it. Might be worth borrowing a battery to try it before buying a new one though

he has just bought a new battery Neutral
I found that when my NSR blew a reg and the battery started going down hill, it would crank the engine over for ages but not start, turned out the battery only had enough amps to turn the starter to give a good spark but not both Neutral
Asside that, no clue. Try charging again?
Do you have a multimeter?

Your bike fell over, then won't start from cranking and the idle has changed?

Clean out the carb.
