Bit of a tricky question... (don't ask why I'm looking, it's a very long story)

I'm looking for a petrol tank that will fit inside my Piaggio NRG MC3 moped seat, needs to be no smaller than 5 litres (and preferably not too much bigger either, I'm premixing at 33:1 so it's just easier to stick at 5L).

I will post dimensions later, but it also needs to have some kind of pre-drilled holes/ way of fastening securely to the inside of the seat.

It will be replacing my main petrol tank so will also need a vacuum tap or I could just use the one from the old tank.

Thanks to anyone who has any ideas. Smile

Put a more useful thread title and you might get more useful advice! Smile

Anyway, think you're going to need some bodging. Could consider fuel bottles for stoves, or maybe something from some kind of small machinery or large RC style vehicle.

Please do not title threads "Help, please help!" Or similar, it makes your thread much less likely to get read. Put in the make and model of the bike and the problem...

I was thinking that... but I need one that will sit properly in the seat and one that I can securely mount to the frame...

I did say it's a piaggio NRG MC3 Moped. and there is no problem, I just really f****ng hate the size of the current petrol tank, it's massive...

And yes I have heard of the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but I want to change it. Thumbs Up

It only holds 6.5 litres at the moment anyway, it's just a really stupid shape!

well, as I said in my first sentence, I'm premixing at 33:1 5 litres of petrol to 150ml oil. would make maths easier to have a 5 litre tank, but more is preferred.
Thumbs Up

Just redo the maths its not hard! Laughing Its a very odd you just want to change the tank to mix in a 33:1 ratio. Why not just do that in a normal size petrol can and then pour the lot in?

The math is simple! here

1000ml (1L) divide by 33 gives you 30.3ml of oil to use per litre.

So 30.3 x 6.5 litres = 197ml so just round that up to 200ml and your sorted.

simples!

and just to cover my backside 30.3ml x 5 litres is 151.5ml so i ain't far off your 150ml amount you use now!

Thumbs Up

could you not just put 5 litres in the 6.5 litre tank, the pump tells you the ammount you have put in, so just stop at 5 and add the oil

Unless you run it empty every time (or actually empty it, as I used to do for circuit racing), it's a bit irrelevant surely?

If you've got a calculator on your mobile (the s25 I had around 2000 had one, so I'm sure yours does Smile) then it's not exactly hard to work out.

Plus when you fill up your 5L surely it's not completely empty so 5L isn't going to go in?

Just get a 25 litre jerry can and keep premix in that - just fill your bike up at home.

I already do fill up at home, and I know what it is to fill up and/or mix.

My question was, if anyone knew of a small tank that would fit underneath a moped seat? Very Happy Thumbs Up

Well without any pictures of the space..... Its all guess work.

Still can't see the problem with the std one. If you premix at home.
