Hi, today i brought a CB500 from a local seller.

when i viewed the bike it had a cold engine and started on the first attempt

after getting it home shortly after and putting some petrol in it.. it simply wont start!

the starter motor makes a clicky whirly sound like it is trying to start it but nothing...it occasioanlly bangs or pops from the exhaust but doesnt start

i have tried using the choke and still nothing

the bike is in neutral with the lights for this and engine oil on as it should be.

all the lights work correctly

please help i dont know what to do Sad

First thing i'd do is put the battery on charge. It's more than likely simply got insufficient power to get the engine started.

Did your petrol come from the black pump?

Probably syphoned a pile of crap out of the bottom if the tank. Drain your carbs and put fresh petrol in.

theres a drain screw under the float bowls. Get the haynes, if you haven't and more so if you intend doing the service yourself. Its a good read and is useful experiance for when dealing with other bikes.

My Hornet did the same thing when fuel wasn't getting through properly. Check the fuel tap, fuel lines and float bowls Wink
