I thought I'd make a thread about this, some of the guys on the Speed Four forum where playing around with this software it works really well!

What you need.

A fuel injected Aprilla, KTM or in my case a Triumph

A £12 cable

This software

The software is very powerful, and gives you loads of control over your ECU.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/chris-red/tune1.png
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/chris-red/tune3.png

You change everything, AF ratio, ignition timing, rev limit, Fuel map, and you can get test read outs from all of the sensors and test the fuel pump, fans, and practically anything else.

There are plenty of maps floating about and it is always fun to have ago yourself. I nabbed a map from online and played with it a bit now my 600cc screamer with pull without hesitation from idle! Speed Fours and TT600's are well known for being lumpy low down this is completely gone now and all it cost was £12 and a couple of hours.

I am by no means an expert and have mostly been leeching other peoples maps but I'm sure come of the more clever people on here will but this to good use.

Would like to get some tips from some of the tuner types (Chris, Keith, Pete)

Any questions let me know.

if it was me, and i didn't have datalogging / lambda stuff.

i'd take it for a power / torque run, and get an afr graph as well.

see how the fueling looks around peak torque, which i guess will be different depending on what mods you've got, and the map might have been set up with that in a different place.

i'd have a look on the forum and see if anyone's found how much you can wind on the spark advance with out it detonating. before you actually try it yourself.

interesting how theres a positive side on the spark angle gauge.

wonder if it does some kind of fancy atdc thing on the overrun?

Nice one Chris. Last time I looked it wasn't compatible with the triumph fours, only the triples.

I have a PCIII for mine, but it offers no way to tune the ignition map which is where the hesitant throttle issues stem from.

Sell it on ebay, you should get £150 for it.

This TuneECU will convert PC3 maps then load them onto your ECU. Your bike will be the same as it is now, except lighter with less battery drain and you will be £150 - £12 up.
Cool

Where do you get the maps from? Are there any good sites/threads on how to set up and remap the TT600/S4?

Psst
Shifty

I'm pretty sure it is a reverse engineered tuneboy without a licence

Shifty

Rowey

There are tunes her https://www.tomhamburg.net/Tune_List.html and at Triumph Torque https://www.triumphtorque.com/

The PC3 ones can be converted using the software, the tuneboy tunes have to be copied item for item.

There are probably plenty of others about too.

I'm in East London/Essex if one wants to stop by I'll gladly have a bash at putting a different map on it. But I take no responsibility if I fuck it up. Laughing

Top post chris - thanks for the information Cool

I used a tuneboy for a re-map 4 or 5 years ago (maybe more actually) and it made a helluva difference to my TT (specifically the dodgy injection issues that a lot of TT600 owners report when feathering the throttle) but it'd be cool to spend some time chopping and changing between different maps.

I'm definitely due a new bike but I'll never get rid of my Triumph, it's just such a fun machine and so easy to use - a really underrated motorcycle Thumbs Up

Good post Chris. I have a FDTI lead somewhere, dunno if it's the same one, we use them for tuning the Suzuki ECU's too.

Thanks chris red Thumbs Up I posted about tunes last week for my t595, seems as though all the early FI bikes need a little fiddle about to get them set up just right. Might be posting a few questions once i get set up with it.

Pete you are fairly close to me, do you know of the best places to go for Dyno runs? I'm in Hornchurch Essex just the other side of the river to you.

I used this on a 675 to turn off the exhaust valve that was sticking and putting the bike in 'get me home' mode. Can be a bit temperamental at times but for free you can't complain!

I was looking at this a while ago to see if there was a 33bhp map for the 675. Quite a handy bit of kit though.

Here's a list of what all the different maps are for:

Making a 33bhp map would be easy to make a shit one, look for a 675 dyno print out see where it makes 33bhp then set the rev limit there.

It's not it would ride like shit and have a really low top speed, If you want to just get a Dyno print out it would be fine, if you actually wanted to ride it it would be horrific.

Triumph do there a official restrictors at a reasonable price. I got my S4 restricted about 5 years ago and it was £60 parts and labour.

Edit:-

The Official Restrictor from Triumph is £31.99

Right so I've got the software downloaded - https://tuneecu.com/TuneECU_En/install1.html

And I've just recieved my shiney new cable, cheapest there was and its next day delivery - https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330399696070&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Now the site says to install new drivers for the right OS (mines Vista) - https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Bike needs to be fully charged before I set it all up, as does my laptop as theres no power in my garage. But it also says i need to be disconnected from the internet while I install the correct drivers for the cable. Not sure how this is going to pan out...

good find. I actually have a tuneboy lead somewhere, in the house but no idea where. I've got the software and a license as it all came with the bike, but it uses a serial connection rather than usb, so i need to use an old pc

the guy who owned my bike before me, had had fuel map done on a dyno but got a bit impatient so didnt have it done all the way down to low revs, it was good though better than standard. Unfortunately, when I had other problems with the bike, the triumph dealer put it back to standard tune and I never got round to putting the custom map back on.

the flat spot at 5k which is only there to get it through emmissions testing was removed with the custom map, and also for some reason, the standard map isnt completely stable, and there are slight throttle variations even when you dont move the throttle.

seeing this makes me think i might get these bits as £12 for the lead is pretty cheap and its a bit more convenient than reviving an old pc with serial connection

i've actually got a full exhaust system that I could fit which i bought cheap off ebay, and then justify getting a custom fuel map made for it at a dyno place using this £12 lead and that software.

Not sure i'd fancy messing about with it myself doing trial and error.

Taking up all the slack in the throttle cable does really improve things though, as you never get a fully closed throttle, and thats a big part of what causes the lumpyness at low revs.

tuneboy and this thing work better than power commander, as they are more precise settings, so i wdnt use converted powercommander maps as you lose the benefits of using a superior system. its reprogramming the ecu not on the fly interceptions of signals like with power commander

so i'm getting one

Same problem here with a TT600. New map seems to have helped even without resetting the TPS thingy though Very Happy

yeah much smoother now i have re-mapped for the later engine i fitted, you usually need to wait til the temp gets to at least 70 degrees C before you can access the controls. I managed to double click the TPS reset later on and got the idle to drop from an annoying 3k to 1k what a difference!!
