 |
|
Hi,
got a load of aluminium sheet, its about 4-5mm thick. Trying to cut it and struggling. Using an angle grinder with a 2mm cutting disk but it isnt behaving. Best way of describing it, the metal get fucking hot, but doesnt cut properly. Its like im trying to cut fucking diamond with a breadknife!
Any better suggestion on how to cut the sheet properly? Its too think for snips, i think its too thick for a jigsaw?

Normal circular saw would work, but you gotta wear gloves, eye protection and ear defenders (for the whole street)
Otherwise nibbler or jig-saw as you have done. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

A hacksaw works pretty effectively too.
Except that one time I got a sheet of what turned out to be dural out of a scrap centrifuge. That was seriously hard work but made a lovely fork brace/mudguard mounting. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen.
