It gets louder.
The silencers on two strokes don't have much, if any effect on engine performance. That's what the expansion chamber does. ____________________ My Flickr |

Not too sure, the "end can" on a 2t exhaust is merely a silencer wrapped around, what would be the "stinger", on a non silenced expansion chamber. Exhaust gasses are escaping from the "Stinger" into the end can, or muffler, the can is there to comply with noise regulations.
I've been looking into this recently, I'd like to replace, or do away with, the cans on my 250 YPVS. No noise regs where I am and one of the cans is knackered,
There are precise dimensions for the stinger on an expansion chamber, those being:-
"Stinger" pipe diameter should be between 0.58 and 0.6 of the diameter of the down pipe.
"Stinger" length should be 12 times that of the calculated diameter.
In my case that equates to a "Stinger" 25mm diameter and 300m long.
Given that there are rules governing the length of a "Stinger" I'm pretty certain that making your can shorter is going to affect performance and not in a good way. ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |
