WD40 will not do it any harm but I doubt it'll help you get it out either. You'd be better off with a penetrating oil like plusgas. Either of these will just burn off or evaporate if they enter the combustion chamber so don't worry about it too much, it's not as if you will be spraying much on it.

Make sure you are turning it the right way and check the threads afterwards for signs of aluminium cylinder head in it, could be stripped and bodged back together if it is stuck hard.

+1 on plus gas... don't over bollock it otherwise you could shear the plug.

Why can't you put a long socket on it, and use a breaker bar/wrench to undo it?

That would be your problem, use something you can actually get some leverage from.

When they have been in a while they can get quite caked in, if the recess is full of crap then find a way of cleaning it out first otherwise all that crap will fall into the cylinder.

Deep socket, extension and a breaker bar will give you ample leverage.

TBH even if it is seized in there isn't much you can do other than get some penetrating oil in there and hope that the last person didn't cross thread or overtighten it.

Well it does need to be air tight for compression.

got it Smile got pissed off and put all my effort in, came loose with a bang Shocked thought id definately fucked it.
thankfully the threads are fine, it did have some gunge around the edge probably the reason it wouldnt budge. surely the last owner didnt glue the thing in Shocked the end of the plug was black so hopefully thatl be the solution to the running issues.

When you put the new plug in, slap some copper grease over the threads. You won't have issues removing it later and the copper grease gives a better earth connection. Thumbs Up
