Ad Trader is a good place to look. Bike Trader is also worth having a look at, so is eBay. Between them you'll find a good number of suitable bikes to choose from in your area. |

Why is it everyone who wants to buy 125s want to spend only about a grand???
Most good 125's are 2 strokes. 2 strokes need to be very well maintained. You may find and buy a cheap bike but you get what you pay for and in the long run you better have very deep pockets.
Pay a bit more for a well maintained bike and it will cost you less in the long run.
Im selling mine for £1700 (open to offers) but for that your getting a well maintained bike with low milage yet everyone would rather have a high milage cheap tatty bike. The choice is yours but do your research and you will see 2 strokes are completely different from 4 strokes in the maintenance stakes. |

Dozzie, the only reason you say that is because you're trying to sell a more than his price range bike.
No, not most good 125's are 2 strokes. A cg125 which is a four stroke will go on and on, but will still be just as good and useful as a two stroke. So you find a cheap bike you get a bad bike? I had a 2003 NSR, it died several times but it was serviced correctly etc. G had a about 10 years old NSR which was much more reliable, so no that's not true.
Yes two strokes are a lot different two four strokes, two stroke need more than a four stroke and that's about it.
The reason people (wisely) don't want to spend much more than £1k is because it will do exactly the same job, will drop less in value, and most learners will drop their bike and shiney new ones the effect will be worse on the wallet on a newer bike.

or even better... save up even more and get a brand new bike!!! . You get a decent aftersales package in the end which usually consists of breakdown recovery and stuff like that... free TPO insurance if your lucky. I got my XR for 2100 and it's on 0% finance. But it is an XR and not and RS though. I've also discovered that the people who buy XR's tend to be Yuppies or post graduate type peeps after visiting a few private sales.
If you're planning to go 2-stroke, just bear in mind the costs of running them. Alternatively, you could go for something less exciting... i.e. a 4 stroke and be left with something more reliable... a workhorse, rather than a performance machine which sees most of its life in a garage somewhere waiting for parts. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Trail style 4 stroke 125s are pretty good... i manage 65mph from my XR and 70 down a shallow gradient with tailwind or a level dual carraigeway. Acceleration is not as bad as one may think... It's got more grunt lower down in the rev range than a 2 stroke... I'm not trying to brag about anything or trying to imply that i race, but i beat my friend's NSR off the lights - he had to rev his thing to get it going, but mine pulls away from tickover. 4 Strokes sound much ballsier than a hairdryer so that's a plus point!
Mind you that MZ is nice looker..
BTW, do any of you in the UK know any places which sell exhausts for an XR - the stock ones look totally naff and are black . ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1
