de restriction of my aerox

I am buying a aerox but when speaking to a man at my local bike garage he said that if i wanted it de restriction that he would also have to have it jetted is this the case or will my bike be fine without it ?

There are many ways of de-restricting a bike:

Arrow Removing the washer from the exhaust/ increasing exhaust output
Arrow Upping the jets
Arrow Better air filter
Arrow Upgrading sprockets

There are more ways, and different methods for automatic peds. But upping your jets will be a probable modification.

If you make changes like a better exhaust or a better air-filter, you will make the bike faster. But the bike will be trying to run faster on the same amount of petrol. The jets are small metal things, like drill bits or stubby nails, which have holes in the centre that are very small to allow fuel to flow through.

By not upping your jet size, you will make your bike run lean (not enough petrol).

Sprockets have nothing to do with de-restricting.

Removing exhaust restrictions and changing th air filter can both be beneficial for releasing extra power BUT it doesn't follow that you always need to up-jet, though it's often the case.

If you don't know for yourself, all you can do is follow the advice of your mechanic. Certainly be wary of the advice of anyone who describes jets as stubby nails or drill bits because they don't know what they are talking about.

I think thats a bit harsh? I know what they are as I upjetted my bike myself, im just finding it hard how to explain the shape and look of a jet to someone who hasnt seen one before.

And granted although changing the sprockets isnt de-restricting it, it can certainly point the bike in the right direction of going faster which is the main aim of de-restricting.

I'm sorry you feel like that but your description robs everything you put before it of credibility. I firmly believe that advice given in the workshop section should be accurate and concise. Remember that anyone who makes a search on here or with a search engine will read what you have put, not just the person you have replied to, so the info needs to be right.
