Hi Guys,
I have taken the rear wheel off this bike to fix the brake camshaft and have refitted it. I've been riding for several months without problems. But someone told me you should have aligned your rear wheel before riding. I never thought I needed to do that with this bike. The wheels on this bike have spokes.
Anyone advise if I need to do it on this bike? If so, some useful info or website detailing the procedure will be most welcome.

Aligning the rear wheel refers to having the wheel straight in the swingarm so that it points directly forwards, if you have had the wheel off and followed a manual of some sort then you probably adjusted it.

There are normally adjusting marks on each side of the swingarm/chain adjuster, when you adjust your chain tension you need to make sure that the marks on both sides match so that the wheel is parralel with the direction of travel of the bike. I am not familiar with your bike but If you have no marks than you can use the number of threads on the adjuster bolt that are showing instead or my preferred method, measure the gap between the back of the swingarm and a point on the adjuster using a vernier caliper. You need to slacken the rear axle nut before doing this, if it is still up tight then it wont work Thumbs Up .

These marks/threads will not be 100% accurate but will be close enough 99% of the time, if you want to be more accurate there are better ways but they take a lot longer.

Yes, that's the way i adjust the chain. I actually count the threads on the adjuster bolt. I hope this should be okay.

I will have to get out there and tie some strings and check the alignment just to be sure. Smile
