Oooooh, fondling, good word!
Someone smashed my car window a few years ago to nick my tax disk. They didnt even bother taking my stereo or trying to nick the car. I felt kind of outraged that my car/stereo wasnt even good enough to steal, damn them!
I got a call from the police a couple of days later. They caught the lads responsible, apparently they were well known. The police asked me for a statement and told me i would get the money back for the window. Of course, i never heard from them again...
I wasnt really worried about it heppening on my bike till you brought it up. ____________________ Current - '94 VFR750FR (Dead), '00 VFR800FI, '11 600 Hornet - Previous - '11 CBF125, '10 Street Triple R, '92 MZ ETZ301, '05 TTR250, NSR125R, KMX125, "Honda" Win

i have one of those allen key disc holder jobbies,
i found a space ( technically meant to be front left ) where i could bolt on, and then as i have a bolt on screen, screen bolted over that,,
disc visable, but takes half hour to change
had one stolen ages ago, if you do, ensure you have proof you applied for new one, as was stopped just after. ____________________ "still no idea where poohsticks bridge is"

Most tax disc's these days are nicked my people who have a car/bike themselves but have no tax, so put a stolen disc in so it looks like they're taxed. Unless you're looking close up you'll never know which vehicle it's actually supposed to be for, and so long as it's in date there is no reason for anyone to check it closely!
We've had a few nicked off the hire bikes at work, and it's just local lads who put them on their peds. One muppet even booked his Piaggio NRG in just before he sold it for a service, with one of our stolen tax discs on it ____________________ A big enough hammer fixes anything! |

The old fashioned way was to wrap it round the frame tube and stick it there with transparent sticky plastic. If you try to remove it, you ruin the disc.
On my current bike I have it somewhere obscure but still visible if you peer at it the right way (tucked up under one of the tank panels in a holder, it is forward and to the left of the rider and clearly visible, you just need to be looking for it). Here is the clever bit... The OLD tax disc is in a holder bolted to the mudguard mounting bracket in plain view, a casual thief will not think to look for a second one and I don't care if they steal an out of date one.
Another obscure but legal place is on the INSIDE of the screen on a faired bike, down next to the clocks, you just don't look for one there. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
