 |

Hey, i'm new to the forum and i'm seeking advice on my Typhoon 50, i hope somebody can help.
I personally don't know much about motorcycles/mopeds and don't have any experience with them, but basically i brought a Piaggio Typhoon 50cc bike (year 2000) from somebody and with it it had a fitted 70cc cylinder kit, this seized up (i was pretty much sold a duff bike i think) and i couldn't change the piston or anything as there were loads of threaded bolts on the engine so it was almost impossible to get to anything.
So i decided okay, i'm going to buy a whole standard 50cc engine for the bike, so i got this and fitted it and the bike runs, however...
When the bike is running initially the acceleration is okay when i first go to pull away and it picks up to about 20mph fairly quickly, then you can hear the decrease in the acceleration sound and it won't go past 25mph and eventually it will drop down. If i'm lucky when i first pull away and don't let go of the throttle the bike will get up to 40/45 mph but the second i slow down the bike really struggles to accelerate. After about 5 minutes of the bike running it will cut out, it will start back up but i won't be able to get past 25mph and it will just cut out again.
I think it's something to do with the carb, but like i said i don't know enough about them to know.
If it accounts to anything the bike has a Hebo air filter and a Leo Vince ZX pipe.
Anybody got an idea of what the problem could be? and why the sudden lack of acceleration then die.
Thanks |

You'll probably have to wait for someone more knowledgeable to reply but I think that rollers could be a problem. It is strange that it accelerates if you hold throttle wide open.
It may be the rollers or the clutch at the other end. Have a look inside the case, it takes about 10 minutes to get the case off. Take a look at the rollers and clutch.
Also, maybe the carb isn't jetted correctly? (just thought of this).
If it is really struggling, might be running rich.
Anyway I'm not great with this, just trying to help but someone else will be better at helping ____________________ Piaggio Zip 50 -> Yamaha YBR 125 -> Kawasaki GPZ500S '96 -> Suzuki GSF600N Bandit -> Honda CBR 600FW
