If its overheating you should be able to smell it.It may be a fuel issue, blocked filter, crap in carb, tank breather or it might be an insulation problem from a wiring fault or a defect ignition coil overheating. If its hot then it may be seizing up because of internal engine damage.A good thing to do is change the oil,as with every cg clone. If you drop the oil into an open container you can check for mechanical damage by looking for metal swarf in the bottom of the oil,On a new bike there is always a tiny bit of metal on the first oil change due to everything bedding in ,but NOT on one thats 3 years old.(assuming its been serviced at least once.#
That last bit about pulling the clutch in making the engine stop is a strong indicator that the engine is seizing as many strokers know.[/list] ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. Air/Oil cooled V twin engine
Pop your front spark plug out, its a bitch of a job, but see what colour it is.
I never had issues with my Hyo over long distance, but it was very low mileage! The engines start getting shit after about 15,000 |

Yeah its all chinesesy crap, your right .Its the oversize v twin, either way you've probably got a serious need for a new piston and rings, hopefully not x 2 .Buy a cg clone ,it may be cheaper than fixing a blown engine. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs. It might be cheaper to buy a cg clone (complete bike) and use that.

It's either:
Fuel-
Could be dirt in the carbs, blocking the jets. Take the float bowls off take the jets out and give them a clean.
There was a problem with the tank not venting a few years ago, this is easily diagnosed by running the bike until it starts to die, and then killing the power and opening the tank and listening for it sucking.
Check the inline fuel filter, there has been problem of some of them melting internally, and blocking the fuel line.
Electrical-
Check the coil packs, some people have had problems with them, after the alternator was buggering about and not charging properly, then it frying some other stuff.
Check the HT leads and caps.
Mechanical-
I really do doubt it could be anything mechanical, that has been caused during manufacture. They sorted out the problems that every retard thinks makes them shit, in the 06-07 models. And that was the front cylinder hardening the valves then, snapping them and causing internal detonation.
I would suggest dropping the oil though, because if it has been pre-owned then it is more than likely something that the previous own has done to it.
I'm not sure if it was just the GV650 that had a small batch of them go out with dodgy cam tensioners. But they were all recalled and sorted out.
Hyosung are coming along rather nicely in the bike market, to say UM and Fischer are struggling, and they actually sell Hyo's under a different name says a lot.
When I got my GT650r getting parts was a complete and utter PITA but that is more the problem of the importer (Barus) who refuse to have anything to do with them, or even have the name on the side of one of the race bikes.
If people think that they are slow and unreliable POS then I would suggest they go look at these:

People are racing them, and successfully winning.
The only let down from Hyo is the fact that people are still ignorant enough to think that they are Chinese, and pass judgement on them without looking, or having a ride on one. |
