Following on from carlosthejack...'s thread I propose a garden competition. This is how it will work, for a week we post photos of our gardens here (a maximum of 10 I think) then I will start a new thread with a poll in it of the entrants names so we can vote for our winner.

Some lovely features in there mate, like it.

Mine is very much work in progress, think I'm going to have to re-grass the lot as its not looking too clever! I'll try and post up a pic later of how it is now......

Yep, Ariel, that's right up my street as gardens go, you don't need a massive lawn and garden to have a pleasant place to sit and look after. I am strictly speaking, a gardener, and that's what I really like, nice use of limited space.

I have got a sandstone wall in my yard which I had planned to repoint this weekend but I took a few stones out to clean up a bit and half the wall fell over = Rockery in progress. It's a demolition site at the minute but I'm planning herbs, alpines and conifers, shouldn't take too long, so I hope to post pics up here in a few weeks.

Is there some sort of symbolism or metaphor to the self-portrait water fountain toad thing? Laughing Please explain... it's a cool idea.

Ariel once licked a toad for its hallucinogenic effects and was promptly sick?

Thanks for the compliments Very Happy. It is a small garden and a lawn would be a waste of it, rather I have broken it into small areas on different levels and this gives the impression of space.
I think we run this thread up to December and do the judging over the holiday to give those of you with WIP to get a look in.
There is no symbolism with the face/frog thing but I did take the pattern for the casting direct from my face.

only grass there is what grows between the slabs
and the occasional weed (no not this time) along the boarder fence Crying or Very sad

That's a proper "Gardeney" Garden you've got there Ariel. Really nice!

Here's my garden, Excuse the big crosses, we're having a Vickers and Tarts garden party at the weekend.
Still got a gazebo, beer tent, and loads of lights to put up yet.

Enter anything you want but if you take pictures on a iphone it will give your garden location Wink A balcony can be a good garden, size is not important.
We need some female input as well, girls are good gardeners.

Nice Binge, I thought the KKK had planted them on your lawn! Your palms did well to survive last winter, I guess it is a little warmer down south.

I planted-up my garden around my bike.
Foreground are pansies and marigolds grown by my own fair hands.

White and yellow Jasmin..Honeysuckle(3rd generation heirloom)

Behind the rear BT45 (36psi) is my blackcurrant bush.

Directly behind the left megaphone exhaust some will of spotted a young Buddleja.

The spoked front wheel with alloy rim (18") is disguising a wee-burn on the Rye-grass lawn.

to be honest I'd love a big garden with shrub's & plants maybe even a small veg plot
unfortunately I only have 12m x 12m, I have a large dog that destroyed my garden in a couple of months
either by digging holes (bottomless pits) for her bones or pissing on the grass and killing the rest off

on top of that bikes get jet washed, serviced and general maintenance
so having it all slabbed means its easy to burn off oil spills etc
