you'll be fine just queue and get it tested, they wont say no, I know others who have done it. So go for it.

the bike ive just bought for track use has a scorpion end can - and has been jetted to suit - ive booked in on a trackday at donny (2hrs away) and im now worried that im gonna get there and get tested and be turned away! its 98db limit.
The exhaust doesnt seem too loud and on some receipts theres a receipt for a db killer but need to have a look in garage tommorow see if this is fitted or not (on first glance i dont think it is).
Do any mot places etc have facilites to test noise levels??

EDIT just checked - hole drilled in spout - no db killer Crying or Very sad I see there on ebay so wonder if some universal thing will fit - just hope it makes it below 98db without causing any running problems Thinking

Most local garages can noise test as its part of the MOT testing.
TBH if the can is a problem just put the stock one on or get a baffle sorted beforehaqnd as most tracks with the exception of Donnington you will really struggle to find a baffle for the day.

I have a universal one for emergancys and stuff a rag over it help with the baffling which has worked so far.

Swift the donny trackday is 98 db ride by. not a static test, best to take a baffle with you but you should be ok for 98 db.

If not the emergency coke can baffles work well Smile

yeh ive read that but still a bit worried! Surprised I read somewhere that they may test BEFORE track time starts so this would obviously up close and personal with the bike. Id rather quash any doubts and get hold of a standard can but for some reason for this model people want stupid prices for an original can - even ones that are dented/roadrashed to hell.

I put a socket in the end of the 2" exit tonight which was a nice snug fit - leaving a 3/8" exit hole Laughing Made a massive difference so maybe a db killer will do the trick Thinking
Do they have any services at the track who can help you out if too loud??

Thumbs Up

Didn't think the MOT stuff specified a value - it's down to the tester's discretion - I've never seen a sound meter being used and have had quite a few fail then pass with a baffle, etc.

OK maybe Ive been misquoted as I was under the impression that was the case.

swift when I went to donny there was no static testing, you were just red flagged if you were too noisy on the fly by.

got all the info emailed over for the donny 98db day and says there will be noise testing BEFORE any bike goes out on track, -
ive now fitted a standard can but the things still fairly noisy , main bulk of the noise is coming from the downpipe area - it has aftermarket stainless steel downpipes as a replacement for the rotten standard ones - but as its stainless steel (and fairly cheap looking) its quite noisy (did have a small crack which was blowing ever so slightly but gungum took care of that).

This is with the fairings off also. Both fairings back on should eliminate a little noise.
Where exactly do they hold the tester when static? behind the end can spout?
Im hoping this should pass without issue but got a paranoia on now as dont want to get kicked off my first day! Crying or Very sad

Anybody know what your average (old) 600 kicks out roughly noise wise? or anyone had a standard cbr tested

Usually it is behind the endcan - they often have the tester on a stick to measure a metre, or whatever from it.

I did one last year at Cadwell on a bike that failed the noise test. Mine was the only one too. Those nice chaps still let me out though - seems they do have discretion...

Well there was no static testing - was fly by only which was recorded on the pit straight, some unbeliveably noisy bikes that were getting on fine, few black flags for too much noise but think this was mainly people trying there luck without baffles fitted. Would of gotten away no probs with just a baffle so know for next time anyway!
