Hi all

I searched these posts and tried the recommendation of using WD40 and elbow grease to remove the stickers.
I found UPVC cleaner worked better on the plastics but even using a hairdryer wouldn't budge the stickers on the tank.
Picking them off with my finger nail is taking forever and hurts as I keep getting bits stuck under there! PLus I don't have long nails and I'm not willing to wait for them to grow!

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how I could remove the tank decals?
It's a GPZ500 D3 1996. They've obviously been on a long time (15 years!)

Many thanks

Duncan

Usually tank stickers in peticular are laquered so need to basically be sanded off as there sealed in.

Fast way:

DIY Hot Air Gun, set to high output (to soften the backing adhesive), then peel back decal.

Copious aerosol brake cleaner or brake & clutch cleaner to remove guey residue (have lots of small soft rags).

TCut as required (have lots of small soft rags).

+1
I had this with my tank, tried scraping off with a blade; tried hair dryer; tried petrol on a rag - in the end, good old medium/high grit sandpaper done the trick.
It most probably will leave some scratch marks in the tank but if you go gently, then use a fine grade paper to finish off. Assuming you're re-painting, using a Hi Build/Filler primer will help with any fine scratches.

I finally did it!
Everything I had tried didn't work, the tank decals wouldn't budge so I took the advice of someone on here and bought a toffee-wheel.
What an amazing piece of kit Thumbs Up
Took the decals off without messing up the paint.
Piece of cake to use, just fit in the drill and point in the right places...let it do the rest!
