Anyone got any experience with CBR250RRs?
Going to see one, 1990 MC22 model, 22,000 miles. Just need to know if there is anything to look out for specifically such as common gearbox issues or ominous noises.
Any info would be appreciated. ____________________ Bikes: too many, too much for one man to maintain anyway. |

Yeah I'm bored with hoofing it around on big bikes. I kind of skipped the whole small capacity sportsbike thing and went straight to crossers/motards/nakeds so I'm hoping to clean up my riding a tad with a relatively light corner speed dependant bike. Would have gone 2 stroke but the sound of these things is just... Well, do want, i believe is the internet term.
Not expecting the Earth performance wise, but it's good to see no one has posted they grenade/blow up/catch fire etc. ____________________ Bikes: too many, too much for one man to maintain anyway. |

I had one of those bikes, it was great fun and I had no issues with it. I would love to have a go on one again. The only problem that I can recall with it is that it was very difficult to source parts for it and even when you did they weren't cheap.
Don't forget pics of it if you buy one ____________________ Bikes: Honda CBR250RR [sold], Yamaha FZR600 [sold], Honda CBR600RR6 |

was watching a tatty-ish black one on ebay like 8 months ago.. seriously was considering dropping the money on it..
I just want that noise, to get that now you need to attach pidgeons to the chain and sprockets ... and pull away very very fast...the noise is almost identical |

I'm not normally into sportsbikes but I would sell my very soul for one of those little beauties
I say sod the price of spare parts, just check it for the usual, subframe, forks, oil level, chain and definitely electrics (alt and rec as said) and if all is looking as good as it looks in the pic go for it! ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...

Back. Left a deposit and picking it up Sunday.
Already started the parts hunt, need a set of downpipes or the one that's on there welding up a bit (it's nowhere near shagged, just needs a hole brazing over) and a couple of other bits and bobs. Bike is however, lovely and would run quietly if it were not for the (exhaust leaks and;) race pipe which is ear splittingly unbelievably loud and massssive, even with the baffle in. So at the moment my head is still spinning from wobbling around the cul de sac on it sans helmet and deciding to take it to 10k rpm. At which point every single window in the vicinity shattered. Naturally the moment it gets back to mine the baffle will be coming out.
Apart from the down(pipe) syndrome, couple of minor little issues like an indicator blinking too fast, but it's very mechanically well maintained. Bodywork is in great condition, seats are fine, everything is tidy and neat and it looks like a good condition 20yr old bike. Couldn't get over how small it is though, and I was kind of expecting to see something similar to a 400, but it's fairly radically different.
Anyway, enough rambling. Got it for £1250 which I thought was an alright price. Fairly rare so if you want one you've got to just buy one you like the look of. Will most likely ride it for the rest of the summer then put it in the garage for winter... and an overhaul ____________________ Bikes: too many, too much for one man to maintain anyway. |

I really really like that paint scheme.
I'd be tempted to paint my helmet the same colours.

Mmmmm.... That's nice. I know what you mean about 10k. Got my 'new' CB400 out for it's first ride tonight and did a little man wee as it reached 10... I am now a happy man.
Mind you, mine is nowhere near as tidy as yours... You, sir, have a proper nice bike ____________________ CBT 23/09/10 - Theory 19/03/11 - Mod1 19/04/11 - Mod2 06/05/11

Looks awesome!
I miss my 29's and 30.
Were fun bikes, but fun is all they were.
Not that practical, and certainly no good for a pillion. |
