 |
|
Hey,
I've been practising 1st gear clutch wheelies for a while, I can get them up pretty well and keep them going...but it gets to the red line and starts falling back down.
That image <<< was at about 50mph and it gets to about 80/85 then drops again. I can keep it up steady from about 20mph, I just cant seem to change gear to keep it going.
I've tried knocking it in, doesnt want to move, clutch in just causes bike to head back down...as does laying off the throttle slightly.
Do I need to try knocking it in harder? I cant get it up in 2nd...so dont try advising that one It cant be done
for all |

You'll know when you're at balance point. It'll go light.
Mate, go do it in 2nd gear, get it on a fast road, and clutch it up at 60+.
Reason I say this, is because you get it up at 30, shift into second, and there isnt enough torque to keep the front up, as 2nd gear on your bike doesnt get lively until you're doing about 60mph.

I'll try to find a decent enough road, but even YOU found it hard to lift in 2nd I'll try strapping a camera to the tank so people can see the rpm and speed... it feels its either revving too high or going past the power when I try in 2nd
Also if you are free some time, come show me |

Im still not there. Still roll on roll off roll on in 1st and it pops up (easy on the bandit, but too heavy and substandard forks isn't a good idea, so I very very rarely pop a little one on that). Dipping the clutch does not work on this bike at all.
Tornado, too scared of breaking it Again too timid to clutch in and wack the revs but the front easily pops up if given a handfull in 1st.
Wanna go on a wheelie school. Best place for it. Use someone elses bikes I dont want to ride down the road no handed, no feeted, but jsut want to be able to pop a decent one every so often for fun.
Guess its like the whole "knee down" thing. Wont make you faster, but looks cool to my imaginary friend |

If you cant clutch a 750 up in 2nd, or get anywhere near balance then there's no point trying to learn to change gear. Run before walk etc.
1st to 2nd gear can be dodgey if youre not high enough, and 2nd to 3rd doesn't have the power to keep it up if it's too low. Basically go higher.
Even my avatar isn't fully at balance, and im about 3x higher than yours but I'm just overtaking a camera bike in that. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. Youre probably slipping the clutch wrong. Don't dump it. When I do it on my 636 I'm probably doing 45ish, but speed is irrelavent. Just clutching changes with the speed.
I don't look at my revs, but they're probably about 2/3rds redline, slip the clutch to pretty much redline and engage it again. Basically when you slip it. Crack open the throttle fully then close it a bit to control it once you get the height. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. I used to pull it in, rev and then just let it go.
Now I have the short levers, I just put 2 fingers on there, pull it towards the bar... no so far that it releases the gear, just so that the revs rise. Then I add a few k rpm.. like 3k.
Then release it as its lifting off the floor.
I'll video my hand and the clocks... and get someone to record me going up |

I hope you guys realise it's stupid and dangerous to perform (or practice) wheelies on the roads.

Fuckoff you square.
And yeah, loads more revs when slipping. I'll post up the vid from my avatar later so you can hear the difference ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. Oh also, you probably won't realise, but thats a closed road... its for park and ride buses and shuts at 6.
Quick one. just looking at the photo, does my throttle hand look like its in the wrong place? Also looks like im not giving it any throttle.
