Hi all, was riding the old CG about yesterday and noticed that there was some fairly loud rattling coming from the rear end. I had a little look and it appears that the plastics that house the rear light, behind the pillion seat are loose.

Image attached (from google) to show where.

It isn't a big deal, not causing any damage or anything but it is rather noisy.

What would you recommend to fix this? Superglue?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if someone has sat on there as I haven't been riding that bike for a while but looking underneath the mounts appear to be intact and there are no obvious loose screws.

Behind the seat are two bits of plastic that are joined down the middle of the bike (will try and take a photo later if this needs pictures) and these don't appear to sit flush with each other any more. They have maybe 4mm play if I hold them and wiggle so I think this is what is causing the noise.

I think i know what you're referring to as my own CG suffers from this.

Tape stuck down taut across the back, just above/below the "Honda", across all 3 panels, will shut it up for a while until the tape breaks.

Will have a look when I get home and see if I can sort it with a refit. If I can't sort it with spanners then I'll tape it as suggested.

Thanks for the input guys!

there should be 4 bolts you can undo to take the whole unit off

then you should be able to slot the plastic together again

This fixed it - the bolts had worked very loose, I'm guessing from the vibration. I should probably put some locktight on there.

Thanks for the tip - have some karma Karma

Vapours from locktight ruin your plastics.

Just do the bolts up properly and let them be.

Didn't realise that locktight ruined plastics. Guess I will just have to regularly tighten the various nuts and bolts then as they all seem to rattle loose after about 1000 miles of riding.
