Unmarked Volvo flashes his lights, I pull over, he gets out of the car walks up to me and starts the conversation with 'alright boss' Obviously thinking i'm going to be some little chavvy scum teenager.
So I take my helmet off, shake my hair Loreal - because im worth it stylie and reply with 'Yes officer, Im fine thank you'.
Anywho he was a bit shocked that I had boobs, but was very nice about the fact my number plate is illegal and said 'I think we can forget about it this time', no fine, no defect slip thingy - lovely jubbly!!
The bit I was surprised about was when he asked me if I had contact lenses in..... I sort of looked at him a bit dumb and said yes (as I was indeed wearing them). I asked him why he asked me that and he said it is marked on my licence that I need glasses or contact lenses to drive, he said he would have given me sight test if I didn't have the lenses in.
Has anyone else been asked this before? I was quite shocked as I didn't realise that the DVLA actually mark it on your licence if you need glasses.
Also if I get tugged again by them, will they have it on record that I was warned about the number plate seeing as I wasn't fined or given a defect thingy? Or should I learn my lesson and change the plate? Its not excessively small and is easily read at a distance, but it is a 1 liner

I've got a two liner smaller plate but got the font made slightly larger, I've had no problems with plod or mot (touch wood and all that), but I don't tend to ride with my brain unplugged (well not very often ). |

From:
https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/PersonalisedRegAndNumberPlates/DG_181503
Motorcycle number plates should have:
character height - 64 millimetres
character width - 44 millimetres (except the figure 1 or letter I)
character stroke - 10 millimetres
space between characters - 10 millimetres
space between groups - 30 millimetres
top, bottom and side margins - 11 millimetres (minimum)
vertical space between groups - 13 millimetres
Assuming you have no I or 1 in your reg mark your (legal) plate can be :
44x3 + 2x10 + 2x11 = 17.4cm (6.9 inch) wide
64x2 + 13 + 2x11 = 16.3cm (6.4 inch ) tall
Not exactly massive . |

Yes, that plate is asking for a tug. You would likely be much better off having a plate that is the proper shape just scaled down a little bit. They tend to pull plates like that less as they are the right shape with the right font etc.
Also, yes, as said earlier in the thread if you look at your licence in the "Codes" section on the reverse it will have "01" which denotes that if you are in control of a motor vehicle you MUST have a vision aid such as glasses or contact lenses to help you see.
You have the '01' code on your licence if you ticked the box on your licence application form that says something along the lines of you need to wear corrective lenses for your vision.

1 line plates can be read by ANPR, 2 liners can't. So get yourself a 2 line ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010. Restriction ended 13/09/2012.

Your tits got you off a fine, change the plate. You were lucky.
As for the contacts, I was warned by a cop about my glasses on my license but he said if I'm wearing contacts it's fine. ____________________ "Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing."

Sorry, not correct. The software can read two lines as it is shape recognition of the individual characters not the shape of the overall plate |
Fair, must have been a while ago when the technology was new. ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010. Restriction ended 13/09/2012.
