I have seen the sticky already which gives details of the basics for foreign travel such as V5, insurance docs, passport, etc etc.

As far as headlight is concerned, for beligum, france, Luxemborg etc, I assume that you need a headlight converter? Have spare bulbs etc, but is there any glaringly obvious things that are not mentioned in the sticky for those countries that anyone can think of?

Thats because headlight converters aren`t req`d on motorcycles due to the way the beam "spread" is setup on bikes compared to a car.

Check the requirements list for euro driving on the AA website

I think i read somewhere that a bike's headlight just dips down, rather than down and to the left like on a car, which is why you don't need to deflect the beam for riding on the continent?

There are differences in the headlights, thats why people have to change lights on imports Idea

But as has been said above bike lights are less likely to dazzle than car lights.

I've never had any issues without beam converters and i do a fair amount of miles over the water.

Bulbs don't need to be carried legally but the petrol stations over there will charge you something silly like 12 euros for a H4 headlight bulb that you can get here for 2 quid. Oil is also priced off the planet so if your bike uses any then take a litre from home.

Leave a photocopy of your driving licence, passport and insurance docs along with a spare bike key with someone back home. Then you can get them posted out if you need to.

Tell your credit card company you're going on a European tour. If they see it being used in three different countries in a day, they might put a stop on your card.
