Line on tyres?

Recently I've noticed a line appear on the front tyre, and have no idea what's caused it. It looks like there could be something stuck between the tyre and the mudguard, but there isn't, I've checked. I thought it would disappear after a while, but a few weeks later, it's still there, and I've noticed the same line appear on the rear tyre too now. The tyres themselves are both Pilot Road 2s and I regularly check my pressures with an accurate gauge.

Bit worried that it might be the tyre seam starting to stretch or something, but as it's not at all central I don't think that's it either.

Anyone have an idea what they might be, and should I be concerned?

Don't forget that tyres grow with centrifugal force (but I am sure that this is common knowledge so excuse me to those that do already know) and might be rubbing on something which is not that evident at a standstill.

No chance you mudguard is flexing when on the road and hitting the tyre.

I have an identical line front and rear on my Michelin tyres, strange?

Anybody got more info on this? Mine are Road Pilots.

Cheers, all. Well, it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one! But still nobody seems to know what's causing it. Think I'll mail Michelin and see what they say, and then come back and let you lot know... watch this space....!

Just got a reply from Michelin.

Ah, you beat me to it, just got here to post the same thing! They were even kind enough to call as well, which is pretty good customer service really. Glad it turns out there's nothing to worry about, because they are terribly good tyres and I would have been reluctant to have to think about changing them.

So, that's that mystery cleared up... next week; Why did Suzuki choose to use mild steel for one piece of an otherwise entirely stainless steel exhaust system...??

Lol, which part?

I bought some stainless headers for my bike on ebay... The bracket that mounts under the engine is mild steel, as are the flanges that attach to the cylinder head. Fooking shite... Will spend a bit more next time and get a decent set of pipes from Motad.
