I tend to generally ride not far left of the centre line. This changes for bends, to give myself as much view ahead as possible. So for right hand bends I might be pretty far to the left, and for left hand I will be pretty far to the right. You should differ your road position for different scenarios, such as to be seen easier by other road users when approaching junctions etc, or to give yourself a better view for an overtake.
If you want to learn about the SV650 go over to SV650.org, they are a good bunch of lads and theres a hell of a lot of information on your bike over there.
Like pinky says about the nod, don't worry about it its a massive topic. You can nod, wave, thumbs up, peace sign, foot out blah blah, Ive even seen a few salutes! ____________________ RS125 > CBR6 > SV650S > ZX636R > GSX1300RZ Hayabusa > 06 RSVR Mille > SV1000S > Street Triple 765 RS |

Road, I sit between half way and 3/4.. more towards the centre line.. but not if you get me.
Sideways nods.. if im going past you at 70 a quick flick is all I ever do.. nod is a nod bro
Find empty straight road at night, pin it in 5th... can you go past 100 easy? An SV should indicate a happy 130 anyway. Restricted I'd be looking a genuine 95-100.
Uncomfortable. You were probably gripping tight.. it will ease up as you ride more, use your legs/knees to hold you, not your wrists. Trust me.. you'll feel better soon |

I'm all over the road...Wherever gives me the safest view or best grip. Same corner will be approached differently under different conditions.
Make yourself relax. Holding on too tight and in the wrong position i.e elbows too high will make the aches start sooner. Hold the tank with your thighs..grip it when braking or in sidewinds.
Can't answer the ECU question, but if i could..... i'd say find a private road and pin it. The world goes all fuzzy after 130....so i'm told. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

Basically it's a power restriction, not a rev's restriction. In the lower gears less power is needed to get you up to the maximum speed achievable in that gear (redline+) |
Are you sure about that?
33bhp at 6000rpm is 33bhp at 6000rpm regardless of gear. The engine speed at which the engine produces power won't change with what gear you have selected.
If you really want to test it, take it for a power run on a dyno, usually fairly cheap too. |
I think what Frost is saying is that at higher speeds the bike will not have the power to overcome the air resistance generated by the speed. Therefore at lower speeds it will red line, but run out of puff at higher speeds with greater resistance... ____________________ "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me."
