Hi,

I have a weird problem, when I'm riding with my bike, the engine suddenly cuts out..

So when I'm driving at 5th gear, it cuts out, so I switch to 4... switch to 3, and then it starts again!

It also happens when I'm at the traffic lights, but then I wait for 10 seconds and the engine starts (off cours after hitting the starter)

This happens 1 time in 2 hours riding.. EVERY DAY

I heard that the electronics of the bike are terrible.. Is it the electronics?

I apologize for my bad English, I'm from Belgium, and I'm hoping that you can help me!

Oh and the spark plug is changed, so that's not the problem

The very first thing I would look at is the sidestand. It will have an electrical switch which for safety will stop the engine if the stand is down. Sometimes the stand is loose or the switch is stiff so it can cause the engine to stop when braking or cornering.

Start the bike, hold it upright with the stand up, then push the stand down 1cm with your hand - see if the engine stops.

Common problem with the cougar, my wife has one and this some-times plays up, undo it, clean with an electrical cleaner and put back together, it dont help living under the chain and getting covered in crap!
Option, plastic bag and 2 cable ties, undo the connector, place plastic bag with a hole in the bottom over cable and feed through the hole in the bottom and the top, join up the connector and and at the loose bag ends cable tie them tight, stops more crap getting on the connector.

Yesterday I drove the bike again and there was no problem this time..
Today I'm gonna check and I let you know

Thanks for the help
