You can, but it does sweet F all. Just search for redx and I'm sure you'll come across the many many threads on the subject.

Oh it has an effect alright, it lightens your wallet, and causes something called Plac-e-bo effect. Very Happy

Redex gets a bit of a hard time on here, it has it's uses, just those uses don't extend to putting it in your fuel and expecting it to fix anything. On the other hand it also wont cause any harm.

What it IS good for is using it undiluted to remove petrol varnish residues that have been caused by stale fuel.

As for dumping it in your tank and expecting it to fix anything - no.

Try balancing your carbs/throttle bodies if it is idling poorly.

I've used Redex on a number of bikes and it has had the effect of approximately the square root of bog all. If the carbs needed cleaning, the only way to clean them is to take them off the bike and clean them properly with carb cleaner and compressed air.

Redex is a waste of money IMO. I've heard the odd bit of anecdotal evidence to say that the diesel redex stuff can help diesel engines, but never petrol.

I did the fabled redex-decoke once on my Landrover, squirt redex in each cylinder, leave overnight, spin the engine without plugs to clear the redex out, then plugs back in & fire her up.

It was a cold damp November morning, the cloud of white exhaust smoke was spectacular in its density, volume and longevity.

My house disappeared from view.

I quickly jumped in & drove up the street to clear her out, leaving a trail a Boeing 747 would have been proud of.

Made bugger all difference to anything, the head was still nicely coked up when I whipped it off the next week.

Redex works well in two strokes, a real noticeable difference on a small one. Don't notice much in 4 strokes. Upto you however probably best balancing the carbs and cleaning them etc.

its mostly good for shifting water out of fuel as it is mostly paraffin.

cheaper just to pour some paraffin or meths in your tank for the same effect.

It seemed when I used Redex on my Speedfight that was running rich/fouling that it temporarily solved the problem, apart from that I doubt it's worth the money :l
