Hey guys,

Bought a Xena XZZ6L alarmed disk lock, and can't get the bloody battery in.

I've got it apart, got the battery in, but it's auto-arming. so when the battery goes in, I get 10 seconds before the warning beeps. Xena's youtube installation says it should disarm when replaced in the lock body, but mine just carries about its business of blasting 120dB into my skull.

How do I put the bloody battery in, and then disarm it?

Is there anything effecting the sensor in the lock?

There's supposed to be a little shiny circle in the slotted bit of the lock body that the IR beam gets reflected off. Check that this is clean and that the bit of the electronics housing that sits above that area is clean and unobstructed or it will constantly think its attached to a bike and go off every time you move it.

Yeah, I checked that. The reflector and sensors are both clean.

It's brand new out of the box. Is it likely I've got a dud?

If you just stick the battery in and put it all back together, after it initially goes off, does it shut up eventually ?

If it does, does it then go off again if you move it (without it being on a bike) ? If so, sounds like its dodgy.

I'm gonna give it one more shot.

Last time, after it shut up, it stayed armed. I haven't tried getting the bolt back in incase it won't shut up. I'm not gonna try undo it again like a bomb disposal expert.

Tried it again. Shouldn't have.

It still thinks it's on my lock, but the rubber battery gasket has jammed the alarm module to the body.

So it's armed. And stuck in the body. With the battery in.

Doh!

lol, I understand your frustration. Mine went through a phase where it would go off randomly while in my bag on my way to work at about 6:30am!

I used mine as just a lock with the electronics module removed for a few months until I could be arsed to give the thing a good clean and sort it out. Fortunately its been fine ever since.

After taking the rubber seal out, it worked fine. So maybe it was just misaligned. But obviously it's not weatherproof without the battery seal.

Got in touch with the seller, and they're going to replace the alarm module.

S'all good. Thumbs Up

Can be quite fiddly getting the rubber to fit well. Good seller to just replace it, think you should name them Thumbs Up

Aye, it is. Very pleased with the service thus far.

And next day signed for delivery, which wasn't mentioned. I think postage was £2/3.

Anyway, just posted it today, so lets see how quick they can get it back. Wink

Assuming all goes well, motorsportelectrics on fleabay. Thumbs Up
