I went to the bike dealers last month to pick up my bike, I signed for the bike and then rang bennetts up to insure it.

I had already been online and had got myself a reference number, it was for £200 Third party.

I rang up and the woman was painfully slow taking my reference number. she must have taken it 15 times and I am not exaggerating.
She got literally none of the letters correct :S

she kept saying -.. ok.. as if she got it then she starts asking me loads of other questions and then 10 minutes later saying the reference number didnt come up on the computer and then asking me again for it.

after 30 minutes it magically appeared on the computer and she carried on asking me stupid questions and getting loads more details wrong.

Then she said. ah here it is. £260 third party. By this time I was getting impatient. the dealer had been waiting for me for 45 minutes. i argued with her for a bit but didnt get any where

I just thought fine, since I am paying loads extra might as well see how much third party fire and theft is. turned out to be 280. so i went with that.

Then she began reading the entire contract. I was like.. You mentioned 31 times that I will be getting the contract in an email, I have been here an hour. Take my card details and let me go!!!

I have never had to do this before. When I bought my last bike the call lasted less than 5 minutes, ref number, card details.. thats it.

She refused to skip the contract shit. it lasted for 20 minutes.

just got my phone bill!!! I have plenty of minutes included but I always seem to forget these 0844 numbers charge you (Why?!! I pay for my minutes!!)

So thats another £15 down the drain thanks to these retards

Think I can get any of it back?

You can put in a complaint and see what shakes out. Likely a rattlesnake though.

This is exactly why I don't phone insurers any more to get policies. If I can't do it online, fuggadaboudit. My time is worth more than that.

"Hello, is that Bennets?"

"Yes. How may I help you?"

"I have a ref number for my online quote with you, £200."

"Let me find that for you...here it is, £260."

"No, it was for £200."

"I'm sorry but it's actually £260."

"Then go play go fcuk yourselves and lose my business, you snide scum."

Simples.

Oh how I wish.

Being a rare breed, a motorbike courier who actually has motorbike courier insurance and pays double the normal premium for the pleasure it is impossible other than with ecourier (who charge about 4x the normal premium) to get insurance for the bikes without spending an hour on the phone and answering the same questions over and over.

"i'd like courier insurance".....

... "and your occupation" WTF !!!

All this great technology and we are faced with retarded monkeys on the phone when buying insurance

Methinks. Once your job has been made redundant by a very small shell script, it's hardly a career path for the brightest and best.

Maybe next time ask if you can speak directly to the computer? Laughing

ive recently had a bad experiance with bennetts. 3days after i got insured i read the email which says i must send my pnc and cbt certificate. i rang bennetts up just to conferm this and the awnser i got was " we only need your pnc" ok..later that day i sent it out first class thinking that will be the end of it. 2 week later i get a letter saying " notice of policy cancelation"... WTF. i rang them stright away demanding for a reason, they said it was because i hadnt sent my cbt certificate in. i told them i was told not to send it in and the questiond that and put me on hold. 5mins later the guy came back and said "im sorry for any inconvinience but you shouldnt of been told not to send it in because we need it" so i said well... then he put me on hold again to speak to his manager. thery came back with; " sorry but youll have to open another policy because this one has already been cancelled" GREAT! i did another policy online then rang them back up to make sure my direct debit for my old policy was cancelled. i was re-assured that no money would be taken out and that they would send me a cheque for £30 for being messed around. the day after hay presto they took £32.05 direct debit for my old policy and £70 deposit for my new policy. i rang them up to go mad and basically was told i was mis fed info again. they spoke to there manager again who told them to give me the money back in a refund. this happened on the 24th of aug and im still yet to recieve my cheque or my refund and now there asking me to send them my pnc and cbt certificate ..jokers

There aren't many times you would call up and prefer to speak to an automated voice system rather than an actual person. Laughing

This should have been the point where you phone your bank and demand that they refund you under the DD guarantee.

Bennetts are poo, and just as a warning they will try to auto renew your policy for you under the guise of being 'helpful' (Its all in their small print apparently) more than likely this will be at a higher price than you paid this year, get away from them as fast as you can and dont ever go back! Laughing I managed to get my full premium refunded from them but only after a lot of hassle plus reporting them to my card company for fraudulent use of my card!

Just be careful, I know that one of the standard questions insurers ask is about whether you've ever had a policy cancelled or special terms imposed. I suspect this will affect your future insurance quotes so it might be worth speaking to Bennets, or somebody knowledgeable, to see what the implications of them cancelling the policy might be.

My Kawasaki was off the road for 2 years as while back and when I wanted to get it back on the road I made the mistake of going to Bennets.
when my policy was due for renewal I called them and they gave me a new quote that was 30% higher than last years?
When I questioned them about this I was told that "that`s the price if you want to insure with us"
Needless to say I no longer insure my bikes (3) with them, so they have lost three possible sources of revenue due to their poor business practises.
Carol nash were not very helpful when I wanted to insure a bike that I did not own (yes yes it`s legal) and the operator insinuated that maybe I was up to some form of crooked activity.
Funny thing is they wont get any business from me either!
