Hello All,

I passed my CBT just under a month ago and got myself a nice 125cc bike called a Lifan Earth dragon 125-gy3.

My friends dad adjusted the free play on my rear brake and also adjusted the rear brake light so it would come on at the correct pressure.

Until now everything has been working perfect besides a few loose screws here and there. But a few days ago the brake light stopped working for the rear brake.

Both filaments intact and working perfect. Front brake activates the light and but the rear brake doesn't. I've tried adjusting the spring thing on the rear brake arm, and completely taking it off and pulling by hand but i just cant get the light to come on.

I did look at the front of the bike, and noticed a wire snapped of a little black box which is below.

I re-attached the cable temporarily to see if that was the problem but still nada.

Below is the wiring diagram for my bike, the top right is the section im looking at but it just confuses me. The section cut off the left is just the gear indicator.

This is a big problem if i cant get it fixed soon as i need it for Uni on monday Sad

sorry for the wall of text and thanks in advance Very Happy

First off, Chinese bikes can have nasty switches. Try bypassing the switch if you can, see if that helps.

Also, the thing that stopped a light on my scooter from working, was that the Earth cable had broken -somewhere- on its way back to the battery. So, we cut the cable short and stuck it under a bolt against the frame to earth it. Light worked after that. So, see if its an Earthing problem. Thumbs Up

otherwise, may be a fuse problem?
Edit: Just had a peek at the diagram and, whilst I'm no electrician, it could easily be a fuse. Smile

If you have (or can borrow) a multimeter or continuity tester, disconnect the switch. put the tester on the 2 terminals of the switch and see if it's making the circuit when you activate it.
Also, like ClockworkJesus said, try bypassing it (connect the 2 wires that go to the switch together).
At least you'll know where the fault lies.

//edited to add :
The blue wire should be live. Use a 12v tester to make sure (don't let the blue wire touch any metal on the frame etc while the ignition is on).

I really would recommend that you get a multimeter. You can get one for £7.49 from Maplin, for example. It'll take all the guesswork out of it.
