I followed this car the other day, and couldn't help noticing the bad fit of the boot lid. Normally it wouldn't be at all surprising - until you look at the badge!

Seems like even the best of what we can produce doesn't measure up nowadays Sad

Bad panel fit does fook me off, and having a wonky boot on a 150k motor would be annoying - that lower edge line, where it meets with the wing on the n/s is sloppy.

Suprised it was allowed out of the factory like that - maybe it's been repaired?

The owner doesn't care, it's only the staff that get to use the boot anyway.

Except we don't own it anymore.
We only own Rolls-Royce Aeronautics.

BMW took over responsibility for Rolls-Royce cars from the beginning of 2003.

That's positive perfection, compared to some of the shite that was coming out of Crewe in the 90s.

I supplied a customer of mine with a new Azure in 1996, that had glue residue around some of the seams in the leather and orange peel in the paint; it retailed at £210,000, which is a lot of money now, but then it would've bought you at least three decent 3 bed semis.

The latest product is the best it's been for years.

At a previous job, the owner of the company next door had a Noble M15. On close inspection, it was so badly built that it looked like it had been assembled in the dark, by a 'tard.

I've seen kit cars built in someone's garage which are better assembled.

Still, I suppose you don't look at it when you're driving it, and their performance is, by all accounts, amazing. But, considering they cost around £70K, I'd be pretty cheesed off with the fit and finish.

Funnily enough, on monday I was at Bentley courtesy of a bcf member who is responsible for checking this sort of thing at bentley.

They measure everything , and check everything fits as it should.

Thats actually pretty standard to any car maker. Though a block of nylon rather than wood is used. I was at Castle Brom last week, taking a tour of the Jag XK line and at the end theres a group of 5 guys who spend all day twatting 80 grand cars with hammers.

I was always told that the guys that worked at Jaguar adjusting the doors to fit properly had a very specific title.

They were called "door fuckers".

Don't know the validity of this though. Spoke with a mate of mine who works at RR in Chi and he reckons that that car would NEVER have left the factory in that state.

As someone that has been round the RR factory multiple times, I can say that it wouldn't have gone out anything other than perfect.
